I am in the process of completing the process to be a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). I have over 25 years of experience working with adults, teens and children in diverse settings ranging from residential treatment to outpatient counseling. I have successfully assisted individuals with issues including ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I am passionate about working with people who are experiencing significant life change meet challenges and exceed their expectations for success. This is why I have primarily focused on working with young people as they are actively engaged in developing their individual identity and personal values. We all continue to face change as we move through life and there is capacity for growth in all of us. I would be happy to work with you to make meaningful change and growth in your life. We will work together collaboratively to help you take steps toward reaching your goals. I am dedicated to promoting your personal growth and life balance. I strive to provide a safe environment for you to explore your personal values and how well they align with your life. I will help you identify the barriers that hold you back and identify the unique strengths that you can use to achieve success and happiness. I am highly skilled at developing individualized strategies to help you achieve your goals and help analyze their effectiveness from a place of curiosity and acceptance.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session begins even before our first session. Upon scheduling an initial visit, you will receive a few forms and questionnaires. Completing these forms helps me to use our first visit as efficiently as possible. Before our appointment, I will review your intake forms. This helps me get to know you a little bit and gives me an idea of your goals for our work together. I start our first visit with an overview of our time together, so we all know what to expect. We will briefly review consent for treatment, cancellation policies, and your right to confidentiality during our sessions and I’ll answer any questions that you may have. Then I’ll give you a chance to ask me about me. Next, I will collect some additional history to get to know you better and we will discuss why you came to therapy. We will decide together on next steps as we formulate therapeutic goals that you would like to accomplish, and we will start to explore strategies that will help us achieve our objectives. As we move forward in therapy, you can expect our work together to be a partnership, and our overarching goal is creating positive change in your life. We will work together collaboratively to meet your goals. I will be your caring and compassionate advocate, ally, and cheerleader. You can count on me to be honest, direct, and challenging when needed. You can expect to have homework to do outside of session. Together, we will determine the strategies that have the best chance of success with you – some people prefer to journal, some meditate, some learn from characters in movies or books, and some like to set up their own behavioral experiments. We will openly discuss how effective our strategies are. If they work, we keep them. If they don’t, we try something different. We will do this with a nonjudgemental and curious attitude because not every plan works, and failure is often the best teacher.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Do you have difficulty finishing projects or completing tasks? Do you find your mind shifting so often that it makes it difficult to focus on one thing? Does your high energy level negatively affect your relationships with others? Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder can create problems in your daily life that you may not even realize. It impacts your ability to succeed at work or at school. It can create problems in social situations and create difficulty with friends. It can cause stress in romantic relationships and with family. Symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder include problems with attention (problems paying attention to details/makes careless mistakes, difficulty keeping attention on tasks, does not seem to listen, does not follow through with directions, difficulty organizing thoughts, avoids or dislikes tasks that require sustained mental effort, loses things, easily distracted, is forgetful), being hyperactive (feels “on the go”, fidgets or moves excessively, has difficulty remaining seated, talks too much, talks impulsively, intrudes on conversations, has difficulty waiting, has difficulty engaging in quiet activities) or a combination of both. These difficulties must have been present from a young age and cause problems at home, work/school, or in social settings. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a very common condition – the National Institute of Health estimates that 1 in 10 Americans is diagnosed with ADHD. It is common among all genders, races, and ethnicities. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is also a very treatable condition. I work with children and adults in cognitive behavioral therapy to help them understand their unique version of ADHD and how it impacts their life. Together, we develop strategies to help manage the specific symptoms that are most important to them. I understand the unique challenges and struggles faced by young adults with ADHD because I am a person with ADHD myself. I’m passionate about empowering my clients to thrive and helping them to avoid some of the hard lessons that I had to learn. I’m committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their concerns and work towards meaningful change. With a warm and empathetic approach, I strive to create a safe space where clients feel understood and supported on their journey towards personal growth and fulfillment. I take a collaborative approach to empower clients to overcome obstacles

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Thoughts, feeling, and beliefs are linked with behaviors. In therapy, I work with people to identify inaccurate or negative patterns of thinking and behavior. We then work to change these thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behavior to improve mental and emotional health.

Eclectic

All people and situations are unique. By utilizing an eclectic (or multi-modal) therapeutic approach, I am able to draw from a variety of counseling techniques to create individualized interventions. This allows me the flexibility to use the most effective method available to achieve your specific goal.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Have you ever stopped to fully appreciate the present moment? Having studied mindfulness practices for the past 25 years, I am delighted when I can educate people on the benefits of simply focusing on the breath. I have used mindfulness practices to help people improve everything from ADHD to depression. It's amazing what positive changes an open and non-judgemental awareness can bring!
