Hello, I am Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) and have 16 years of counseling experience. As I am someone who has experienced difficulties personally and sought out help, I respect you for reaching out for counseling. I have professionally worked with individuals (all ages - infants/children/teens/Adults) dealing with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, suicide, trauma, families, couples and life challenges. It is truly sacred ground to walk this path with my clients.
In our first session, we will do introductions, discuss the needs or issues that you would like to address in your treatment. You can expect to be heard, seen and motivated to move forward in your journey toward healing and restoration.
My strengths are being present, listening, understanding, and following you through your journey to self-care and healing. I will meet you where you are and walk alongside the good, hard and difficult times with you. As well I believe the experience in my life helps qualify me to journey with those dealing with grief, loss of child/parent, loss of suicide and trauma.
My practice is a client-focused, person-centered, and humanistic approach. I believe that each person who enters counseling deserves to be understood with empathy, respect, and compassion, and I believe that your relationship and connection with your counselor is key to moving forward. I will journey with you to bring you to the place that you want to be. I use a person-centered talk therapy model with a variety of techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, strength-based approaches and mindfulness approach.
I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice. This approach has been very helpful for numerous clients in challenging their recurring thoughts and managing anxiety. By utilizing CBT, to can identify how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact each other, and then use this understanding to modify your thinking patterns. This, in turn, will assist you in leading a life with less anxiety and stress.
