Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. I am a tri-lingual Mental Health Counselor licensed in Florida, who has experience working with children, adolescents and adults, addressing symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma. I also have experience as a guidance counselor in schools, where I have worked addressing ADHD and behavioral challenges in children. I graduated from Troy University in 2019 with a Masters in Science and subsequently obtained a State License in Florida, where I live and practice.

I have been working in the social work field in different areas for twenty years. I have dedicated most of my career to working with children and families. During my time working with families I conducted weekly parenting group sessions using a fifteen week evidence based program. At the beginning of my career, I was employed at Florida International University through a grant funded program that lasted three years serving clients that experienced domestic violence. I have been employed in Miami Dade County public schools for seventeen years. In the school system I worked for three years conducting HIV and STD education for students in an at risk high school, worked for nine years as a school counselor and currently, I provide services families with special needs. I have been employed part-time at a psychiatric hospital for eight years, conducting group sessions, baker acts, individual sessions, family meetings and completing treatment plans.

Hello. I am James Moore and I have 55 years of experience as a clinical psychologist in a variety of settings including institutional, academic and private practice. I developed and ran a head injury treatment facility in Carbondale, Illinois, but have spent my last 36 years in private practice in Miami, Coral Springs and The Villages, Florida. I have specialized in psychological evaluation, neuropsychology, and forensic psychology. geriatric psychology and individual psychotherapy. My modes of treatment include psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and, when called for, some degree of psychoanalytic therapy. After 3 years in academia and 8 years as a forensic psychologist, I moved my family to Miami in 1986 and joined a large private practice firm. Three years later, I was entirely on my own and have been so ever since. I look forward to utilizing my unique experience to assist new clients to achieve a more satisfying and successful quality of life.
