Brittnie Cockrell
Greetings! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida. I received my Masters degree from Florida Gulf Coast University and have been practicing for 8 years. I aid various populations in navigating formative, stressful & traumatic life phases, events and situations.
Having worked with diverse populations for the past 8 years, I've developed an integrative approach to helping you identify the source of your challenges and develop solutions that lend measurable progress.
My primary focus is symptom reduction & stabilization, skills building and destigmatizing mental health care for individuals of all walks of life. Throughout my work as a holistic therapist, I've developed an integrative approach to helping you identify the source of your challenges and develop solutions that lend measurable progress.
First session
During our first session, we will review informed consent/confidentiality agreements as well as general overview of therapeutic structure. My primary focus is to build rapport with new clients while gathering historical information for assessment and diagnostic purposes. We will then explore specific challenges that you are currently facing to create a personalized treatment plan to work through in follow-up sessions.
Strengths
Are you feeling stuck in past experiences, overwhelmed by anxiety, or weighed down by memories that refuse to fade? Healing is possible, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I provide a compassionate, warm, and structured telehealth space where you can safely process life's challenges and reclaim your sense of self. My practice centers on empowering you to move from simply surviving to truly thriving. One of my primary specialties is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain reprocess distressing or traumatic memories. Whether you are dealing with a specific single-incident trauma, complex childhood trauma, chronic anxiety, or panic, EMDR helps lower the emotional charge of past events so they no longer dictate your present. In addition to EMDR, my therapeutic approach integrates: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help reframe unhelpful thought patterns. Mindfulness-based strategies to ground you in the present moment. A trauma-informed lens that honors your unique pacing and lived experience.
Ideal clients
I primarily work with adults who struggle with interpersonal issues and co-occurring disorders. My clients are eager to learn healthy coping skills and process unresolved issues which impede baseline functioning, relationships and overall quality of life.
Treatment methods
Eclectic
I take an eclectic approach to treatment in order to tailor treatment specific to individual client needs. My integrative method combines techniques such as cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, dialectical behavioral, psychoeducational and solution-focused.
