Hello, I’m A.J., a Licensed Master Level Social Worker from the U.P. of Michigan. Faith, Family, and Fellowship are things that I strive to live for daily. My faith is very important to me. I am involved in Men’s Ministry inside and outside of my church. Haggai 2:9 is a verse that is close to my family's heart: “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty, in this place I will grant peace, declares the Lord Almighty.” My goal and prayer is that I can help individuals move into a better place than they were when therapy first began. My wife and I have three boys and one grandson. Our family enjoys spending time outside on our 20-acre property “Creation Acres” or getting away camping. My boys and I enjoy spending time in the woods or on the lake. I graduated from Ferris State University in 2018 with my Master’s Degree in Social Work after attending Lake Superior State University completing Criminal Justice / Public Safety Emphasis Bachelor’s Degree and a Paramedic Technology Associate’s Degree in 2008. I have experience working directly with law enforcement as a dispatcher and working in the public safety field as a fire fighter and as an EMT. I currently work for the Michigan Department of Corrections as a mental health specialist. Prior to this career, I worked for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as a foster care case manager and a juvenile justice / juvenile delinquency case manager. I look forward to working with you during your journey. NOTICE – Due to my current position with the Michigan Department of Corrections, I am unable to accept referrals or work with anyone on parole or probation.

Maybe you're the person everyone depends on—the capable one who keeps going. Underneath, you may be grieving, overwhelmed, questioning relationships, replaying the past, or simply exhausted from carrying so much. I'm Angela, and I work with adults navigating grief, trauma, intense emotions, attachment and relationship patterns, women's issues, and life transitions. My style is warm, human, and active. Using EMDR, ART, CBT, DBT, and attachment-informed approaches, we won't just talk about what happened—we'll understand why it still affects you and build practical ways forward. You don't have to pretend you're okay here. I work with people who look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed underneath—navigating grief, trauma, intense emotions, relationship patterns, or major life changes. Together, we'll uncover what's keeping you stuck, understand where it began, and build healthier responses so your past no longer has to keep making your decisions for you. You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether you're grieving, overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or simply tired of carrying so much alone, you deserve a space where you can be real. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in helping adults heal from trauma, chronic stress, and long-standing survival patterns. Many of the people I work with grew up navigating environments where safety, emotional support, or stability were inconsistent, and those experiences can continue to affect relationships, self-worth, and the nervous system well into adulthood. My approach is compassionate, grounded, and practical. I integrate trauma-informed methods such as EMDR, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation to help clients move beyond survival mode and reconnect with a stronger sense of self. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. Together we work at a pace that feels safe while building the insight, resilience, and self-trust needed for lasting change. Hi, I’m Tara. I’m a professional counselor with 19 years of experience helping children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change. I became a therapist because I’ve always had a heart for helping people feel seen, heard, understood, and supported—especially during seasons when life feels overwhelming, relationships feel difficult, or you simply aren’t sure what comes next. My approach to therapy is warm, genuine, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I want therapy to feel like a safe place where you can show up as you are without fear of judgment. You don’t need to have the perfect words or know exactly where to begin. We’ll start where you are and figure out the next steps together. I work with clients experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship and family difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, parenting challenges, and communication struggles. I use an individualized approach that may incorporate CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and client-centered therapy. I am also a Registered Play Therapist, and working with children and families is an important part of my practice. I use play and developmentally appropriate approaches to help children express emotions, develop coping skills, and work through experiences in ways that feel natural to them. One phrase that guides much of my work is “Awareness creates choice.” When we begin to understand ourselves, our patterns, and our experiences differently, we create opportunities to make different choices. My goal is for you to leave therapy not only feeling better, but also understanding yourself better and feeling more confident navigating whatever comes next.

I have been practicing mental health counseling since 2004. I have worked with a wide variety of psychological and life issues over the years and have found that the most important part of a successful therapy experience is having an authentic, trusting relationship with my clients. I strive to create a safe and compassionate environment where you can explore and discuss vulnerable topics and feel understood. I’m interested in supporting you through the process of achieving your goals. I view therapy as a process of both healing and development. Life is hard and everyone has sustained emotional or psychological injuries of some kind. These injuries can be limiting because they keep us stuck in unfulfilling patterns of emotions, behaviors, and relationships, and distort our sense of self. As we engage in the process of healing, those negative patterns begin to shift until they no longer fit or make sense. Life becomes more fulfilling as you develop into a more authentic self.

"Healing is possible, even when it feels far away." I'm Liz, a LCSW who specializes in working with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and perinatal mental health. Maybe you've spent years learning how to keep going. You're capable, dependable, and often the person others turn to. But underneath it all, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, irritable, disconnected, exhausted, or stuck in patterns you don't fully understand. On the inside, you may feel anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode. You might find yourself overthinking, staying constantly busy, feeling on edge, struggling to slow down, or wondering why certain patterns keep showing up in your relationships and daily life. Often, these responses developed for a reason. They helped you cope with difficult experiences and get through what you had to get through. Trauma isn't just something that happened in the past. It can affect how safe you feel in the world, how you relate to others, and how you see yourself. It can leave you feeling disconnected from your emotions, your body, or the person you want to be. I provide a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed space where we can explore these experiences at a pace that feels manageable. My approach is relational and collaborative. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we'll work together to understand the patterns that have been keeping you stuck, process past experiences, build coping tools that actually fit your life, and strengthen your connection to yourself. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more able to move through life with a greater sense of choice, confidence, and self-understanding. Healing looks different for everyone, and we'll work together to find what that looks like for you.

I'm Paige Whitten, a Licensed Professional Counselor. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working in community mental health, completing assessments and evaluations, providing support in school settings, inpatient settings, and now working in private practice. This varied experience has given me a well-rounded perspective on mental health and a deep appreciation for meeting people where they are, whether that's navigating diagnoses, supporting young people through developmental challenges, or helping adults create meaningful change in their lives. I work primarily from a person-centered perspective, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I also incorporate EMDR therapy, particularly for clients working through trauma, anxiety, or distressing memories.

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Florida. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
