I am a trauma-informed therapist with many years of experience working with children, youth, and adults who are struggling with overcoming anxiety, depression, adversity/stress, trauma, grief/loss, and difficult life transitions. I use a client-centered, integrative approach to support my clients in healing, self-discovery, and growth within their identified goals. I like to begin the therapy journey by truly understanding you and your life story, helping you to identify your strengths, and fostering your natural resources. I use a collaborative approach for setting goals based on your presenting issues and discuss various treatment options to determine the best approach to reach those goals.
In a first session, I like to focus on starting to get to know you and provide you a space to get a sense of me and whether you feel I would be a good match for you and your goals. We can do this by identifying and exploring your reasons for seeking out therapy, exploring your goals and allowing you to ask any questions about the therapy process that you may have. I also like to complete a general assessment of your life story and history without getting into anything in too much depth initially.
Having a background in trauma informed care and trauma focused treatment, I have the ability to help my clients connect present challenges and struggles back to root causes in the past in order to facilitate sustainable healing and empower self-awareness and true understanding of themselves. As the old saying goes, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
I love working with clients who are feeling stuck. Often you may have a sense of where you want to go in life, how you want your relationships to be, how you want to feel and think, but are having a hard time eliminating barriers to getting there or knowing what to do to stop repeated patterns of unwanted behaviors, thoughts, feelings and dynamics in your life and relationships. Thats where I can come in... to help you explore and heal from your past, connect that to present issues, and help you pave a way to a thriving future!

Trauma Informed Care
I have a certificate in advanced trauma informed care from Barry University and work through all mental health issues through this lens.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is integrated as a component in almost all treatment modalities. Targeting negative thoughts creates ability to cope with emotions in a more adaptive manner and subsequently creating desirable behavioral changes.
EMDR
I am trained in EMDR and use this with clients seeing to decrease PTSD symptomology. I am also trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Grief Therapy
I have worked extensively with children, youth and families who are dealing with loss and grief issues, whether that be from death, difficult life transitions, family displacement, divorce/separation, and/or families involved in dependency cases.
Mind-body approach
I have a background in studying the neurobiology of trauma and understanding the effects of trauma, stress and adversity on the brain/body and subsequent mental health and physical health outcomes. The Body Keeps the Score is one of my favorite reads on this topic.

She helps me realize what I am doing right and where I could improve, or where others could help me.

I can’t recommend Cassandra enough. She is warm, compassionate, and genuinely attentive. One of the things that stands out is how much she remembers from our conversations, even small details, which makes me feel truly heard. She has a way of guiding me through the most difficult situations without judgment, while still helping me see things clearly and move forward in a healthier way. I always leave sessions feeling more grounded, understood, and supported. I’m very grateful to have found her.

Ms. Tenzer is caring, comforting, and open-minded. She makes me feel comfortable diving into difficult subjects I know I should talk about, but have kept bottled up. It is a warm and comforting feeling to be in a session with her.
