I'm a PhD, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and owner of Greenway Wellness Center. I have over 15 years of experience in helping individuals move through conflict. This includes the conflict we carry within ourselves, and the conflict that shows up in our closest relationships. My goal is to help you find your way back to connection and clarity. My approach is strength-based and solution-focused. I'm less interested in what's "wrong" with you. I'm more interested in the pattern you're stuck in, so we can work together to change it. I also work with couples navigating disconnection or repeated conflict. I bring my own experience with personal growth work and marriage into this work. I know firsthand that even steady people and strong relationships get caught in patterns they didn't choose on purpose. Whether you're coming to sessions on your own or with a partner, I believe most struggles aren't really about the surface issue. They're about a story. Sometimes it's the story you tell yourself. Sometimes it's the story two people tell about the same moment. Either way, that story has stopped matching what's actually happening, and the safety underneath it has gotten lost. In our sessions, I'll help you slow the pattern down. Once you can see it clearly, it stops running the show. I don't pathologize the people I work with. I believe you already have more capacity for change and connection than the current struggle is letting you access. My job is to help you find your way back to it. If you're exhausted from repeating the same cycle, in your own head, with a partner, or both, I'd be glad to work with you.

Whether you're facing anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or simply feeling stuck, I offer a steady hand and a safe space to explore what’s next. Hello, I’m A.J., a Licensed Master Level Social Worker from the U.P. of Michigan. Faith, Family, and Fellowship are things that I strive to live for daily. My faith is very important to me. I am involved in Men’s Ministry inside and outside of my church. Haggai 2:9 is a verse that is close to my family's heart: “The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty, in this place I will grant peace, declares the Lord Almighty.” My goal and prayer is that I can help individuals move into a better place than they were when therapy first began. My wife and I have three boys and one grandson. Our family enjoys spending time outside on our 20-acre property “Creation Acres” or getting away camping. My boys and I enjoy spending time in the woods or on the lake. I graduated from Ferris State University in 2018 with my Master’s Degree in Social Work after attending Lake Superior State University completing Criminal Justice / Public Safety Emphasis Bachelor’s Degree and a Paramedic Technology Associate’s Degree in 2008. I have experience working directly with law enforcement as a dispatcher and working in the public safety field as a fire fighter and as an EMT. I currently work for the Michigan Department of Corrections as a mental health specialist. Prior to this career, I worked for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as a foster care case manager and a juvenile justice / juvenile delinquency case manager. I look forward to working with you during your journey. NOTICE – Due to my current position with the Michigan Department of Corrections, I am unable to accept referrals or work with anyone on parole or probation.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in helping adults heal from trauma, chronic stress, and long-standing survival patterns. Many of the people I work with grew up navigating environments where safety, emotional support, or stability were inconsistent, and those experiences can continue to affect relationships, self-worth, and the nervous system well into adulthood. My approach is compassionate, grounded, and practical. I integrate trauma-informed methods such as EMDR, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation to help clients move beyond survival mode and reconnect with a stronger sense of self. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. Together we work at a pace that feels safe while building the insight, resilience, and self-trust needed for lasting change. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to understand yourself more deeply, therapy can be a powerful place to begin.

My goal is to meet you where you are by bringing a compassionate approach backed by formal training and experience and be a part of your goals in the change process. I have a multidisciplinary, eclectic approach to therapy in which I utilize techniques and principles from a variety of modalities to include Christian based. My counseling is geared toward treating the whole person from a biopsychosocial spiritual standpoint. I have worked as a therapist under regulatory agencies for 6 years and have worked in Christian Ministry since my ministerial ordination in 2003. Demographics I have served have included inpatient and outpatient care, private practice, substance abuse issues, psychotic spectrum disorders, gender identity issues, personality disorders, sex addiction, family and relationship issues, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Spirituality, and men’s issues. My experiences as a combat military veteran, teacher, father, husband, and a person who has experienced my own traumas and failures have contributed to my professional development. My path to becoming your therapist is somewhat unique compared to others in the field. Over the years, I have built a diverse professional background that began with a career in sales. I then transitioned into the Long-Term Care Industry, where I served as both an Admissions and Marketing Director and a Director of Social Services. In addition to these roles, I have been actively involved in my community, working as an HIV/AIDS Intervention Specialist and a Substance Abuse Counselor. For a decade, I also had the privilege of serving as a Licensed Pastor. On a personal level, my life has been enriched by becoming a husband, a father, and more recently, a grandfather. Throughout my journey, I have experienced many of life’s joys and victories. At the same time, I have learned valuable lessons from self-inflicted setbacks and from dealing with the consequences of choices that cannot be changed.

Welcome and thank you for expressing interest in my services! I’m Chris, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over a decade of experience supporting adults through life’s most overwhelming challenges. I know how hard it can feel to take the first step toward therapy whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, anger management, abandonment issues, trauma, or long-standing patterns that no longer serve you. If you’re here, you’ve already shown courage by exploring support and I’m glad you’re taking that step. I believe therapy works best when we build mutual trust and understanding. In our work together, I’ll listen deeply to your story, help you make sense of what’s been holding you back, and collaborate with you to identify goals that feel meaningful and achievable. My approach blends well-established, evidence-based methods, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, with a warm, supportive space that honors your unique experience. You’ll find I’m reliable, dedicated, and passionate about helping people create real, lasting change in their lives. My focus is always on what matters most to you and not on labels or checkboxes. I was entered into two international honor societies (one is for the top 15% of students across the span of 8 countries with a flawless 4.0 GPA and the other is for the top students in the field of counseling specifically in the United States). Please note: I am a licensed mental health counselor. If you are seeking medication management, you will need to book an appointment with a psychiatrist. I can assist with referrals upon request.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Florida. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Florida from Miami to Jacksonville! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Florida.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
