Strengths

Having past clinical experience in all levels of care, I have collected a variety of "tools" and psycho-education on managing different mental health difficulties. This has allowed me to educate past and current clients on reducing their symptoms ranging from depression through Behavioral Activation to Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD/anxiety and EMDR for PSTD symptoms. I am able to connect with clients on a deep, empathetic level as I believe a strong therapeutic bond can assist us to unveil any hidden emotions or realizations. In our sessions, I show up ready to support, warm, open-minded and collaborative. My aim is to support, guide and provide healthy therapeutic coaching related to your goals and other objectives, while preparing you to face the world-- head on! I truly believe, whatever you may be struggling it... to trust it. It may not make sense now but, with time... it'll show you that you are capable of thing you never thought you would be!

Ideal clients

Clients coming to me would be facing emotional stressors and having difficulty processing emotions and/or understanding. These emotional stressors could range from relationship issues, depression, trauma, or processing a difficult work week. Clients will show to therapy ready to discuss and process emotions and open-mindedness to possible problem-solving solutions. The client will also be considerate of their personal goals in therapy and open to challenging themselves with assistance from therapist.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Utilizing CBT throughout my years of clinical experience, I have been able to observe clients shift and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns through use of cognitive behavioral skills, that we can explore and implement together! CBT aims to shift focus from distressing thoughts one may experience and modifying their behaviors to reduce their symptoms.

EMDR

Being formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, this treatment has greatly assisted clients who may be dealing with trauma symptoms (flashbacks, startled responses, difficulty sleeping, distressing feelings), phobias, depression, grief or loss. Prior to engaging in EMDR therapy, we will first review helpful information on the therapy itself, and build up coping skills. This can greatly assist clients feel comfortable and equipped to manage any intense feelings that might arise during the session. Together, we will create a safe and secure place to engage in this therapy where you can work through past distressing situations and experience long-lasting change.

Compassion-Focused

We often can be our toughest critic and our mind can really turn against us when we need it the most. In our sessions, I focus on not just creating and safe and non-judgmental space for clients to fully express themselves, but also working with clients to be re-build their confidence. In my practice, I use Compassion-Focused Therapy to help you shift from a state of constant threat to one of safety and connection. Together, we will work to quiet your inner critic, understand your emotional struggles with kindness, and build the psychological strength you need to face life’s challenges.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy to assist clients process difficult emotions and thoughts, while we further look into items within their own manageability. There are many things that we cannot control (maybe we wish to)... and this can cause distressing emotions to a lot of people. We will discuss practical ways to better manage our feelings and working towards the road of accepting without being dragged through the mud by our emotions! Acceptance and commitment therapy can better help clients commit to actions or behaviors that are align with their values.
