LMFT, 7 years of experience
DeMarkus Grayson-Rhule has been practicing systemic therapy since 2019, utilizing this training in various contexts, such as crisis intervention and school-based care. My approach to therapy is a collaborative and solution-focused one, where we tackle the set goals together. I believe client's already have the tools necessary to confront their problems and that we tend to forget that. Thus it is my goal to help my clients figure out which tools to use when facing problems.
Many people tell me that after a session with me, they feel more relaxed and at ease due to my pacing during session. In the first session I tend to put an emphasis on building rapport with you. I go at the speed that you set and aim to help you find your voice that your problems seemingly took away from you.
I aim to be the calming, free space for my clients to share what they need to get off their chest.
My ideal client is one who is feels ready to tackle the hard things of life and face them head on together. Whether that be depression, anxiety or dealing with general life struggles my belief is that we are one hope filled conversation away from finding a way to a more favorable outcome.
I believe that my client's have the tools and experiences necessary to deal with the problems they are facing and as we go along the therapeutic journey we will figure out what those experiences were, how those moments outshined the dark moments in life and bring hope to the future self.
The stories we tell about ourselves or allow others to put on us can become our strength or weakness. I ask my clients where they get certain titles from and why they believe that about themselves and if they want to continue telling that story.
Finding hope in Christ and one's faith can bring peace to our lives. To those clients that identify with the Christian faith I bring in Scripture to inspire conversations regarding their faith journey and how that brings light to their mental health journey. I believe the wholeness of Man is found in Mind, Body and Spirit.
