Lastly, I have worked as a medical social worker, both in the hospital and in the outpatient Clinics, as well as in the Emergency Department. I provide crisis intervention, case management, and counseling services; assisting patients with trauma, adjustment disorder, grief and socioeconomic barriers. I use an eclectic approach to meet the needs of each individual client. I specialize in Anxiety Disorders and strategies that soothe the nervous system. My therapeutic emphasis is trauma-informed techniques. I have experience working in school settings, community-based care, residential, and agencies. My clients are often individuals and families who know that setting a therapeutic objective is important for improving their well-being and are looking to implement the strategies that will assist in enhancing their everyday wellness.

I am a new mom to an infant daughter. I love being outdoors, yoga, college basketball, family/friends, sun, and books! I worked as a school counselor for 17 years, and have been seeing clients of all ages via telehealth as an LMHC since 2023. I have also worked with those who have lost everything to the ravishes of substance use and with men serving life in prison. I have over three decades of experience as a husband, father, grandfather, youth pastor, counselor and university professor. I have worked in the church, private practice (in Florida and the Bahamas), community mental health (specializing in crisis and families with at-risk-adolescents), foster care, substance abuse, juvenile justice and the prisons. I have maintained my relevance by teaching at the university level, advising a best-selling author on the psychological aspects of his book, and serving as a consultant to other mental health agencies. I have wonderful experience working with anxiety, depression, anger, parenting issues, challenging children and teenagers, grief, trauma, substance use issues, family and relationship issues, LGBT issues, and other issues and concerns. I have helped my clients find peace with themselves, with others and in their situations. I have helped my clients find happiness, even amid loss. I have helped my clients find belonging and love in healthy and supportive relationships. I have helped my clients increase their ability to succeed by changing their thinking. One of the foundations of my life and my work was written by M. Scott Peck in The Road Less Travelled. He wrote, “Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths… Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them? Combining Transformative Justice Practices with Clinical Mental Health Counseling Techniques, Adejare (Ah-Day-Jah-Ray) McMillan, is professionally known as The Transformative Justice Therapist. This South Florida-based speaker, poet, and activist holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and is State Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Additionally, he is currently writing his dissertation towards the completion of a Ph.D. in Couples and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. For the last decade, he has worked with people of all races, lifestyles, and ages — as young as 13 and upwards of 70 years old. Having been a member of several organizations dedicated to human rights and social justice, Adejare finds time to remain engaged in community activism, advocacy, and organizing — at times, specifically as a Transformative Justice Circle Keeper and Trainer.
