Hey there, my name is Shana and I use she/her pro nouns. Are you feeling overwhelmed, a bit lost, or even detached? Have you felt kind of alone, or unable to identify how to motivate yourself to get to the next step? I work with all who are receptive to learn their capacity, and function within it to create the change necessary to grow and reach that next step. We can work together to identify needs, and create plans to obtain them. We'll not only use a whole self approach, but evidence based practice(s) as well. This may include CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and/or DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy). No matter what you're struggling with, be it addiction, anxiety or depression, I'm here to help you. The scariest thing is getting started; it is also what takes the most strength. You deserve this opportunity to work on you, and get all that you need to be the best version of yourself! During our first session, you can expect a short introduction, and time provided to share about yourself, specific challenges and possible goals. Learning this will help me to create a plan that will be best for you, and most feasible based on where you are.
I have worked in addiction in some capacity for the last 12 years. Since practicing therapy, this has been something I have grown to be even more passionate about. Identifying roots, and working through and up to resolution. Additionally, working within the LGBTQ+ community ensuring equal access and respect is given.
I love and appreciate working with folks who are motivated to do the hard work, as well as being receptive to guidance getting there. Being motivated doesn't mean you have all the tools, it means you're ready to learn and practice using them. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and even unsure is normal; and certainly something you can work through.
Using CBT in sessions to help client to identify and challenge negative thinking and patterns. Learning practical coping strategies to empower and reframe thinking is key to creating positive change.
This is a supportive space where you can explore gender identity and expression, process your experiences, navigate challenges and socially related topics, build self acceptance all free from judgement.
In sessions, I will help guide you through the exploration and resolve of ambivalence around change through questions, discussion, conversation and listening. I respect your autonomy and want you to become confident reaching your goals independently.
It's important to share your story and explore how that narrative has shaped who you are. More importantly, how your values, experiences and strengths can change the narrative for a preferred outcome.
You are resilient! And your strong! Use that, and other resources to gain the ability to overcome current challenges to get closer to achieving your goals.

I was afraid I wasn't going to get along with Shana because of the age difference but she was great. She gave me homework and lots of encouragement.
