Hello! I’m Cindy, a bilingual in Spanish and English, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I provide individual, couples and family therapy services. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida and my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I'm fascinated by how people’s minds work and develop. When working with individuals, I love to understand how they became who they are and how they can make their lives more fulfilling. I am passionate about improving the well-being of others by helping them grow emotionally and in their pursuit of happiness. I'm curious by nature and enjoy trying to understand what's beyond what they present. That's why I became a psychotherapist. I've worked with children, adults, couples, and families, and I have worked with a range of mental health disorders. I also have experience working with individuals of diverse cultures and backgrounds including all age groups, LGBTQ+, substance abuse, neurodivergence, and military personnel and families. Whether you're dealing with overwhelming emotions, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression or past trauma, I'm here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Trauma reshapes the brain and has negative impacts; emotionally and mentally. But you don’t have to do it alone. I will walk alongside you and we will work through these challenges together. We will pick up the pieces together as you begin to heal. As a therapist, my biggest goal is to ensure you feel validated, safe, and comfortable as we work together to process and resolve the trauma that has too long overwhelmed your life.
EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based type of therapy for processing traumas or distressing life events. EMDR targets the distress and symptoms associated with it, utilizing your brain’s natural healing tendencies.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment model most widely-used therapy for anxiety disorders. Research has shown it to be effective in the treatment of panic disorder, phobias, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among many other conditions. CBT addresses negative patterns and distortions in the way we look at the world and ourselves.
Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment model designed to assist children, adolescents, and their families in overcoming the negative effects of a traumatic experience. This evidence-based method has been proven effective for treatment after multiple traumas or a single traumatic event, and therapists trained in TF-CBT are frequently able to help children experiencing the emotional effects of trauma address and resolve these effects.
