The overall theme of my life is a journey to deepen my appreciation and understanding of human experience. Along the way I have become a mental health counselor, Zen practitioner and meditator, anthropologist and archeologist, tango and swing dance instructor and performer, songwriter, and guitarist. I bring these various experiences into my counseling practice through mindfulness, creativity, and awareness of multiculturalism. I feel that despite the ups and downs of life, it is possible to find fulfillment and joy through developing a broad perspective, open mind, and attention to the momentary experiences of everyday life. I hope to offer others relief from their suffering and greater appreciation for their lives.

Hi there, my name is Emily and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in CT and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in IL who works with adolescents and adults using a variety of theoretical perspectives in individual, family and group therapy sessions. I have over twelve years of clinical experience in a variety of environments including outpatient, inpatient, community, and in-home settings. I specialize in working with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and clients of all ages who have experienced varying types of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. This experience has helped to expand my clinical areas of expertise such as stress and anxiety reduction, management of depressive and mood symptoms, harm reduction and substance abuse, and symptoms/risk behaviors associated with personality and attachment disorders. Additionally, I have worked within the foster care system providing both individual and family therapy services to children, adolescents, and guardians. I incorporate an array of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and solution-focused interventions into my treatment approach. In my extensive work with anxiety disorders and effects of trauma, I have frequently utilized DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) techniques, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and other interventions which focus on the psychosomatic manifestation of mental suffering in the body. I am motivated to help clients integrate past experiences into their current identity to increase insight in such a way as to make progress toward personal goals.

Hello, I'm Elizabeth. As a therapist over the last 12 years I have worked with a wide variety of people as an advocate and an ally in helping them heal and grow through the therapy process. Beginning to look for a therapist can bring on anxiety, but know that taking this step is already a major sign of growth. I help work through the chaos inside one's head to identify what are the actual causes of anxiety, stress, and depression. In sessions it can be a time to process emotions, but more importantly, to identify the cause of stressors and what is and is not in your control. I help people learn to set boundaries, work on self-care, and coping skills, and be true to their authentic selves. I have always been an advocate for those that don't feel that their voices are heard including: LGBTQIA+ individuals, TBI survivors, Neurodivergent individuals, parents, college students, healthcare workers, teachers and individuals looking to find their self-worth. My approach starts with a person-centered mindset and by working together we will decide which therapeutic techniques will work best for you as an individual.

Welcome! I am Robyn. These days many people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and depressed. Sometimes they feel as if no matter what they do, it isn't enough and either they or those around them are never happy with themselves. How about you? Are you trying to manage to be the best parent, spouse, and employee that you can be? Are you struggling with a recent life transition or the loss of a loved one or relationship? Are you lying awake at night reviewing the list of things you think you should have accomplished? Or are you ruminating on what you said to someone, how you said it, and what you should have done differently? You are not alone! Many people experience these feelings and you do not have to continue to feel like this! You CAN FEEL BETTER! I work with adults of all ages who are struggling with these things by providing a safe space to talk about and work through these issues. I strive to empower them to discern their strengths, their priorities, and the barriers to feeling better. Once we’ve done that, I help them find ways to address those barriers and build new coping skills they can use to overcome the challenges of anxiety, depression, managing change, and people-pleasing. Change is not easy! I am impressed by your courage in taking the first step of asking for help to start your journey toward feeling better! You deserve to have someone skilled and trustworthy to guide you to grow and heal. I will compassionately work with you using evidence-based techniques to get beyond the challenges you are experiencing and on the road to feeling better! I’d love to have the privilege of working with you!

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space; within that space is your power and freedom…” Here’s the thing; we’re all basically the same- but then again, not. Our reactions (to unexpected events, comments, public scrutiny) vary, depending on our nature, personality, character and whether or not we’ve had breakfast. While the last part was just to get your attention, I’m committed to understanding what makes YOU “tick” and why you respond the way you do. That, in and of itself may be fascinating, but my true intention is to get you back on track, help you find your footing and become laser-focused & confident, independent of the circumstances . A bit about me: A native New Yorker, I acquired my MSW following a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CCNY. Essentially, I view myself as a Life Coach, a motivator who recognizes that we’re ALL unique individuals, but do share many of the same thoughts & feelings. Most of us have struggled with anxiety, uncertainty and self-doubt- yet we’ve also experienced feeling confident, grounded and secure at one time or another. Then something happened. Our backgrounds and early childhood experiences, our genetic predispositions all serve to shape our personalities and the essence of our being. To that end, as a clinician, I strive to guide individuals to examine their beliefs- in order to gain insight into their potentially self-destructive behavior- or whatever is getting in the way of their progress. Together, we explore why you’ve sought treatment Now and what you’re looking to achieve or gain. What do you identify as the challenges or issues, what have you tried so far and what’s blocking you? Is it apathy or complacency that’s overshadowing what used to be determination & drive? Is it fear, feelings of inadequacy, imposter syndrome? Let’s find out…

Hi there, I'm Lauramarie. Do you find getting up and going about your day-to-day routines becoming a challenge? Are you having trouble trying to figure out who you are and how to navigate relationships with others in a healthy way? Does anxiety, stress, or frustration interfere with sleep or getting tasks accomplished? I work with adult clients to build a strong sense of self, create healthy relationships and boundaries, and work on relaxation and coping skills to decrease the impacts of symptoms of anxiety, stress, mild/moderate depression, and adjusting to transitions in life. Together we can create a person-centered set of goals to address what is not working and begin finding peace and healing. I love integrating aspects of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and communication skills to empower you to become your best self. Whether you're dealing with changes in life, conflicts within different relationships, or cycles of anxiety and depression, I'm here to help. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow, and you will be met with compassion, validation, and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the difficulties and habits holding you back. Let's work together! Who would not be a good fit for my practice? I've found that individuals who aren't willing to apply what is discussed and learned outside of sessions will struggle to make meaningful progress. Clients that experience complex traumas, are at a higher risk with significant depression or suicidal ideation, or children under 18 would not be a good fit at this time as well.

Dr. Alexis (she/they) is a queer, neurodivergent, Latinx therapist and guide who supports Women of Color, LGBTQ+ folks, and late-diagnosed neurodivergent individuals navigating burnout, identity, and relational healing. Using the *The Restorative Thread* methodology she developed, she weaves together narrative therapy, somatic practices, and culturally grounded care to help clients unmask, reconnect, and reclaim their truth—in their own time and in their own way. Many of her clients are deeply capable and outwardly composed, yet inwardly carrying exhaustion, disconnection, or the weight of constantly being “on.” Dr. Alexis offers a restorative, affirming space where you can explore who you are *beyond survival*, and begin to live more fully aligned with your essence embodiment.

I specialize in uncovering the underlying issues that shape coping skills which may no longer serve you - patterns that can show up as addictions, compulsive behaviors, or repeated cycles that keep you feeling stuck. Together, we will explore how to break those cycles by building on your strengths, developing new coping skills, and creating meaningful change. My style is warm and supportive, while also gently confronting thoughts and behaviors that may not align with your goals, so you can move toward lasting growth and healing.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Connecticut rather than a city like Hartford?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Connecticut from New Haven to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Connecticut.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
