Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Registered Art Therapist based in California. I also have certification in substance use disorders. I practice from a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective, utilizing integrative techniques which include CBT, mindfulness practices, somatic approaches, psychodynamic, internal family systems and art therapy. I tailor treatment to best suit your needs. I understand how hard it can be to make the decision to work through difficulties. My goal is to help clients develop insight into their thinking and behavioral patterns by exploring the root causes of their anxiety, depression, or trauma and identify the underlying issues contributing to their distress. This process of self-discovery can be challenging, but it is also incredibly empowering.

Choosing a therapist can be challenging and confusing and one might ask, what does therapy involve? From my experience Therapy involves developing a very special relationship between a professionally licensed practitioner called a therapist and one or more people seeking to collaboratively define and achieve constructive change. This relationship is referred to as the therapeutic bond and is considered one of the most important parts of successful therapy. As such our first step in therapy is, from day one, to form that bond by establishing a trusting, non-shaming environment where any child, adolescent, person, couple, or family will feel safe and sense the therapist is on their side, listens and understands. Therapy on my behalf will involve empathy, genuineness, and mindful acceptance while we collaboratively establish therapeutic changes / goals you feel are both desired and are ready to achieve. Our sessions will involve the language of change as perceived by you the client(s), and constructive finding of solutions. You will be able to present your story without fear of rejection or shame. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and am very effective with middle schoolers, adolescents young adults, and people working in the stressful world of business, hi tech and active military service members, and veterans. During my time as a therapist I have built a reputation as caring, effective and someone who has my client’s best interests at heart. If you feel a connection or that contacting me could be of value, I would be very happy to hear from you. Until such time I wish you the very best in your quest. Sincerely, Mike Michael Durrigan Ca. I'm an LMFT based in California. I have a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and have been practicing as a therapist for 8 years. I help adults experiencing life changes, anxiety, and also hormonal changes. I use empathy, compassion, and respect in every session and hope to make clients feel comfortable and welcomed, and free to be themselves. Often clients do not come in for trauma specifically, but more often than not, trauma and grief come up in a client’s past or childhood, so I am trauma-informed and very experienced in treating trauma. I am flexible for using part of a session for the “here and now” immediate goals, and part of session for healing old wounds, for more deep healing.

Welcome to my (safe) space!!! I'm a bit of a Fred Roger's enthusiast, so let me start by saying thank you for being you!! My most important value is to treat people with love and respect, no matter their background, no matter their circumstances!! I believe we all deserve it!!! My name is Jose-Santos Xavier Orozco, feel free to call me whatever makes you comfortable!!! Life to me is about being flexible, or like Bruce Lee said, like water, being able to bend and reshape whenever needed, while maintaining strength and purpose!!! I am a 36 year old male therapist who was born in SF and raised in Los Angeles! My early years were spent in the foster care system until I was placed into a permanent family at the age of 6. I am of mixed Ethnic background and have experienced culture/ identity difficulties since as long as I can remember. Life has naturally brought me to get a degree in Social work and work in this field. I would definitely consider myself a wounded warrior, although I feel like my injuries have been pretty well tended to by now. Learning to accept and love yourself has been my greatest achievement (on-going achievement) and I promise that when you get there too, it can be yours as well!!! I prefer working with ADULT population; I have very limited experience working with kids. Thank you

Hi there, I'm Christina. I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist that has been in practice for over 10 years. During our sessions, we'll work at your pace and where you are at emotionally. Creating a safe space filled with compassion and kindness is important to me, plus a mixture of mental health interventions. We'll set a goal and work towards achieving that goal. Don't worry, we don't have to delve deep into your past if you are not ready. Sometimes there is the need to process what you are going through at the moment and have someone to be there and listen and that's okay too. We can start there.

Whether you are struggling with sadness, finding the energy to do things in life, low self-esteem, anxiety, anger, trauma, unhealthy coping, or even masking your emotions; you are capable and you can heal. I truly believe that most people will do well when they know how to do well. It's hard to ask for help and it's hard to accept the help. We just get stuck in the quick fix, easiest option, or the least emotionally draining route. My style towards therapy is direct, relational, and authentic. I won't sugar coat things or tell you what you "want" to hear, and I hope the same from you. This is about you and for you.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Arizona and Indiana. I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary. I have had the opportunity to work in and gain knowledge from a diverse collection of settings that include elementary, middle and high school, hospital chaplaincy department, private practice and private agencies working with families in the child welfare system. Each of these settings has provided me with hands-on experience working with individuals and families in crisis, as well as those who are faced with navigating some of life’s challenges such as divorce, loss, and addiction. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I love a systems approach, understanding that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather are part of larger systems. I take a non-judgmental, warm approach to therapy and I believe in tailoring my therapy towards my client's individual needs. Together we will establish goals and design a path towards a healthier way of being. I draw from a multitude of therapeutic techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy. Clients who work with me have a desire to change. Whether facing everyday challenges that are holding them back from living a fulfilling life or struggling with family dynamics that have caused distress or trying to navigate through grief, my clients can learn to use their insight to find new ways of functioning that better serve what they want from this life. My clients can see a future for themselves that brings peace, happiness and healing. The first step towards seeking help is often the most difficult. I am excited that you are here and look forward to taking this journey alongside you.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare?

Yes! If you use Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
