LMFT, 17 years of experience
Hello! My name is Diana Marquez and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I have been extremely fortunate and have had the honor to work in the fields of mental health, substance addiction and social work for the last 17 years. I have a passion for helping others as well as a passion for collaborating, supporting and walking alongside the healing journey of those I serve, through the implementation of nurturing, compassionate, non-judgmental, respectful and supportive mental health treatment approaches.
During our first session, I will work diligently to establish and build initial rapport and build a strong therapeutic alliance and relationship which will serve as the foundation of the care you will receive from me. I will also make sure to answer any questions you may have regarding how therapy works and what to expect from it. As a next step, I will be asking questions which will assist me with gathering information relevant to your background. This will help enhance our work together as well as help me with identifying your strengths, needs and any goals you would like to set and work on, during our time together.
My greatest strengths as a mental health provider are my innate passion to serve and help others create positive and healing change in their lives, my ability to work with individuals from all ages and backgrounds as well as my compassionate, caring and warm approach. My 17 years of work in the fields of mental health, including work with individuals diagnosed with intellectual and/or developmental needs/challenges and who are experiencing substance use/misuse/addiction challenges, grief and loss, who may be moving through challenges different life stages and changes/transitions bring about, and/or experiencing anxiety and/or depression, as well as my previous professional experience as a social worker and in the social work services fields, have equipped me with invaluable professional experience which fuels my ability to deliver compassionate, caring and meaningful mental health, parenting and substance abuse services, treatment and support.
I have the ability to best serve individuals who are ready and actively looking to create positive change as well as mental and bring in emotional wellbeing and healing into their lives.
I believe every one I serve has individual and unique strengths and needs that are important to explore and address in a manner that best fits the specific needs Identified. I have witnessed that the best results are achieved through the implementation of compassionate and non-judgmental mental health support through the use of psycho-education and healthy skill/tool building. I love collaborating with and supporting those I serve by learning healthy coping skills and achieving healing through the implementation of a variety of theoretical approaches and modalities such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness practices, Attachment Based Theory, inner child and reparenting work, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused and healing from grief and trauma- just to name a few.
I have had the honor of supporting my clients through the implementing of inner child reparenting and healing tools bringing about the identification of core and root issues to current mental health challenges.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is one of the most widely used approaches to positively affect and effect change in a person's life. Through this method, I support those I serve to understand the connection between thoughts, emotions and behavior as well as learn positive coping tools to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.
Recognizing that many of us have experienced trauma in some shape or form is key in best supporting the needs of my clients. Should it be appropriate to do so, traumatic experiences will be explored in order to foster healing.
Understanding a person's unique culture background, including factors such as race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status and disability are all important factors in seeing and treating the whole person. This is an approach I implement in every encounter I have with any and all of my clients.

Diana is so kind and understanding. She gives tools that are effective in our sessions. As well as, tools that I am able to use in my everyday life when I face challenges. I have made progress in my life and feel much more confident in myself and the choices I am making since I have been working with Diana.
