PLEASE NOTE: I specialize in Gerontology. I believe in empowering older adults by fostering independence, resilience and sense of identity. Aging is a journey that should be met with dignity, respect, and opportunities for growth. By actively listening, providing tailored support, and encouraging self-determination, I can help older adults maintain their autonomy and confidence. Resilience is nurtured through meaningful connections, purposeful activities, and a focus on strengths rather than limitations. I am committed to honoring an individual's experiences, celebrating their uniqueness, and creating environments where people feel valued and capable. Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm so glad you're here. It’s no small thing making the decision to sign up to talk to a stranger about the overwhelming and very often draining circumstances that you’re in. I want to highlight how much being on this site, and looking through profiles is such a significant step toward your mental health goals. Anxiety and improving self image are at the core of my work. I focus on helping clients develop flexible thinking and self-compassion — practical tools that help you step away from self-criticism and patterns that keep life feeling heavy. The goal of this work isn't about becoming a perfect version of yourself. It's about learning to navigate life's challenges with greater flexibility, confidence, and self-understanding.

Insomnia/Sleep Issues
Hello, and welcome. My name is Ashley. I am a licensed counselor in North Carolina and Virginia, and I specialize in helping adults improve their sleep through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). I have been working in the mental health field since 2006 and have supported children, teens, families, and adults. On the Grow platform, however, I am exclusively providing CBT-I treatment for adults that have insomnia. I focus on providing a safe, private space where you can feel comfortable talking about your sleep challenges and learning practical skills to improve your rest. My approach is rooted in behavioral therapy, CBT-I, and mindfulness, which means we will work together to understand your sleep patterns and build habits that support better sleep over time. It is very important to me that every client is treated with kindness, compassion, and respect throughout our time together. Outside of my work, I value practicing what I encourage others to do. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking my dog, and engaging in activities like gardening and cooking. These moments help me stay grounded and connected, and I bring that same mindset into my work with clients.

My aim is to help clients navigate major life transitions, anxiety, depression, and overwhelming stress — especially when life feels uncertain, heavy, or out of control. Whether you’re dealing with a big change, emotional burnout, or financial pressure, therapy with me is a place to slow down, get grounded, and start making sense of what you’re going through. I take a warm, supportive, but direct approach to therapy. I won’t just nod and listen, I’ll help you notice patterns, challenge what’s keeping you stuck, and build practical tools so you can feel more steady, confident, and in control of your life. My background is a clinical social worker working full time in medical social work so I witness people's life change every day in major ways. This has lead me to prioritize self care and build intentional ways to help myself and others manage stress. My top self-care activities include traveling, spending quality with family and friends, seeking out thrilling adventures, discovering new RNB music, and walking. I'm hopeful that we can identify some coping skills that work for you.

I am currently accepting new clients for individual sessions via teletherapy. I have been practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida for the past 25 years and am also a Licensed Therapist in Virginia, largely with a focus in the areas of trauma, depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, relationship conflict, and self-esteem. I feel many of the responses we struggle with are connected to a traumatic event (or perceived trauma) from the past. Currently, my primary focus has been in the individual realm, with a focus on relationship growth. I will encourage you to prioritize the areas you wish to address in therapy and tailor my approach on an individual basis. I believe in client autonomy so the areas that are addressed are the areas you want to address. I draw on several treatment modalities (including, but not limited to, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to allow you to further develop your strengths and help you meet all of your treatment plan goals at a speed that works best for you. I also have completed training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy as well as the Developmental Model for Couples and integrate both of these approaches into my relational therapy practice. Overall, I help you to see that managing the stressor is more important than just managing the stress as it will allow you to cope with anything that comes your way.

I am an AK amputee, a person with a disability, a disabled person, a one-legged person, or as medical folks will say a person with a "residual limb" (I have never heard an amputee call their stump a residual limb). If you have been looking for a therapist and you see the photo they choose to put on their page, how many put their disability in their photo? That choice says something. I am also a psychotherapist with 50 years experience of providing therapy to adolescents, adults, and families. My identity shifted 10 years ago when my right leg was amputated above the knee (AK). The identity as a disabled person is not a sought after identity. In many ways being disabled sucks big time. Providing telehealth services would be one way for me to "hide" my disability. Just never point the camera toward my leg. I don't like my experience of me just walking into a room and my leg has already introduced me long before I say my name. I am looking for clients that are disabled in some way and want to work on not letting that "disability label " suck your lifeblood away.

Hi, my name is Stephen As a Christian do you ever feel like you are letting God down, or like you are not being faithful enough because you have real-life problems? Problems In your relationship, emotionally, behaviorally, or even with substance abuse. Is it hard to be kind to yourself? I help individuals manage their anxiety, depression, or burnout by addressing the needs of your body, mind, and spirit using the bible. I integrate current counseling theories with sound biblical principles to help develop a stronger relationship with God, and a stronger you. Whether you are dealing with being overwhelmed, relationship issues, or cycles of anxiety and depression, I am here to help. Seeking therapy can seem scary and maybe even against some of the teachings you've learned in church, but you are making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together I will meet with you, and your spouse if you want, with compassion and evidence-based techniques while using biblical principles so you can overcome the hang-ups and habits holding you back. The research says that 1 in 4 people in the United States, at any given time, have mental health issues. This does not exclude the church. The average church in Virginia has 250 members attending on any given Sunday. That means that at least fifty people in your church service last Sunday are struggling with some type of mental illness or emotional problem. I work with churches to help them with ministering to the hurting, please let me help you.

Hello! I'm La-Retha Brown, LPC, and I'm glad you're here. Seeking therapy is a courageous first step, and my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move toward the life you want. I believe that healing begins when people feel safe enough to be honest about where they are while also discovering the strengths they already possess. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, stress, trauma, self-esteem concerns, and difficulties managing emotions. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful goals that align with your values. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and solution-focused. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness techniques. I tailor treatment to meet your unique needs because I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Whether you're navigating a difficult season, rebuilding after loss, strengthening relationships, or simply seeking personal growth, I am committed to walking alongside you throughout the process. Together, we'll work to help you shift from surviving to thriving—and empower you to shift the power back to yourself. I look forward to being part of your journey.

Hi! My name is Kiara and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. I have about 8 years of experience working with a variety of populations but I especially like working with youth and young adults. My experience is primarily in community mental health, so I’m all about coordinating care with other professionals to address the whole person. My favorite part about being a therapist is uncovering the light at the end of the tunnel along with my clients, and assuring them that there’s always hope.

Authentic, Specialized Therapy Tailored to Your Strengths—Where You Can Drop the Pretense and Exhale. Let's be real—stepping into therapy can feel intimidating, stiff, and way too clinical. Too many people have walked away thinking therapy "just doesn't work" for them, usually because they never found a space where they could drop the armor, be totally honest, and just be themselves. That's exactly why Marty's clients enjoy working with her honest, creative and real approach. "Thank you for being easy to talk to! No judgments... is very good for my psyche!" — Verified Client "That’s exactly why I started Renaissance Counseling & Consulting. Therapy shouldn't feel like an impersonal checklist or judgmental clinical lecture, It should be a warm, practical, and grounded space built on humor, transparency, and genuine human connection."

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
