New to Grow
I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Nationally Certified Counselor in Virginia, dedicated to providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care. Fluent in English, Arabic, and Tigrinya, I offer evidence-based therapy for individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds, addressing concerns such as trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, and major life transitions. With advanced training in trauma-focused modalities, I support clients carrying deep emotional wounds by creating a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for healing. I am especially committed to working with those navigating grief, trauma, interpersonal violence, marital challenges, and the long-term impact of experiences like war, immigration, and incarceration, honoring the cultural identities that shape each client’s story.
In your first session with me, we will focus on getting to know you and making sure you feel comfortable and supported. We’ll begin with an intake and assessment, where I’ll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and a bit of your personal, medical, and mental health history. This helps me understand your experiences and identify the most helpful direction for our work together. I will also review important practice policies, including confidentiality, session structure, scheduling, and what to expect from ongoing therapy. This is also a space for you to ask any questions you may have about the process, my approach, or anything you’re unsure about. Most importantly, we will begin shaping your therapy goals together. You don’t need to have everything figured out—this first session is about starting the conversation, building trust, and taking the first step at a pace that feels right for you.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my ability to create a grounded, culturally responsive, and emotionally safe space where clients feel genuinely seen and understood. I take a trauma-informed, collaborative approach, meaning I don’t “lead from above,” but instead work alongside clients as they make sense of their experiences and move toward meaningful change. My work is guided by evidence-based methods, including trauma-focused interventions, cognitive and emotional processing approaches, and practical skill-building for managing anxiety, depression, anger, and life transitions. I tailor each session to the individual, ensuring that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, but aligned with the client’s unique history, strengths, and goals. Clients often notice that I bring both structure and warmth into sessions. I help them move from insight to action in a way that feels manageable, not overwhelming. I also place strong emphasis on empowerment—supporting clients to recognize their resilience, build emotional regulation skills, and develop healthier patterns in relationships and daily life.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to explore their inner world with openness and honesty, even if they feel unsure or overwhelmed. I am best positioned to support adults navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, or a desire for personal growth. My clients value a compassionate, culturally sensitive space where their experiences are honored, and they’re motivated to build self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthier patterns. Whether they seek healing, clarity, or meaningful change, I walk beside them with guidance, patience, and respect for their unique journey.
