Hello, my name is Teresa, practicing mental health for over 16 years working with the military population. Working as a middle school teacher in a lower socioeconomic area. This led to my desire to go back to school for my master’s degree in counseling psychology. Receiving my LPC licensure, led me to pursue my chemical dependency counselor license (LCDC). I began working as a substance abuse counselor with the US Army in substance abuse counseling. While working with the military I worked at a local hospital developing a program for civilians in chemical dependency. The need to work with individuals, and families including Service Members, led me to work as a contractor for private corporations. During this time, I received a certification in behavioral therapy to work with the autism spectrum population. Raised as a military dependent, then wife and mother, I experienced many aspects of different personalities. I was led to understand what it means to try to hide who you are to eventually become someone you may not recognize.
The goal is to have you see, life is wonderful, we go through the storm to appreciate the sunshine. The experience developed led me to work with addiction, anxiety, PTSD, and many other mental health issues. We are a beautiful bouquet with different views on life. Using an eclectic therapeutic array of mental health care has allotted me to develop individual care. This concept of care is the same for couples and group therapy. Some techniques include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychosocial therapeutic techniques.
I have specialized training in many forms of therapy ranging from traditional talk therapy to the latest neurobiological breakthroughs. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with couples and families to help alleviate some of the most grievous situations and find a comfortable change. As a trauma specialist, I focus on treating individuals with PTSD, the various aftereffects of childhood and/or adult sexual abuse, secondary trauma, domestic violence, depression/anxiety, grief/loss, the various aftereffects of 2020 and Covid 19, and behavioral changes for healthier living.

What if you could write the story of your life? The truth is, you can, you are in control of your destiny, you are writing the story of your life right now. The choices you make are directly related to the thoughts you have. That puts you in control, you have the ability to change the way you think, and when you change the way you think, you change your life.
The thoughts you are thinking right now are writing the story of your life. If you are not happy with the story, you can reprogram your thoughts to change the story and write it the way you want it to go. Together you and I can work to manage the challenges you are facing today.
Therapy may seem scary or even overwhelming, but with the right partner you really can change your life. Together we will explore how your thoughts and the dimensions of wellness are affecting your life and find a path to change the story of your life, to one of positive emotional and mental well-being.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Texas and a Licensed Addiction Counselor in Colorado I have made the commitment to help others as they face adversity so as to develop a loving and compassionate relationship with themselves. I bring a wealth of experience and specialized training in addictions and mental health to my practice and there is one common theme I have noticed throughout my career, which is our self-talk. We are our own worst enemies, and this wreaks havoc on our self-esteem.
Have you ever shared a story from childhood and felt like no one really gets it? Do you wake up angry or unsettled for no clear reason? Maybe you’re thriving in your career or showing up for your family, but deep down, something still feels off.
If you're stuck in the same frustrating patterns, despite your best efforts, just know you're not broken, and you're not alone. As someone who's walked through trauma myself, I know how survival can become a way of life.
But here's the truth: healing is possible. Together, we’ll gently uncover what's beneath the surface, so you can feel more connected, more at peace, and more you in every part of your life.
