Hi, I'm Michael Johnson, Sr. and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in the state of Texas but born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have worked with individuals, couples and families for more that 8 years. I help people find new life practices that serve their goals, their values and honor who they are. Seeking counsel is considered wise, so you are doing the right thing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is generally used for rapport building by way of you and I discussing the concerns and challenges you're facing. One question I'll ask is for you to give thought to what you want to accomplish during your time in therapy. Your answer to this question will help in creating a plan that is specific to who you are, and how to build the capacity to manage your life the way you truly desire.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

For more than 8 years, I've developed the ability to get to the heart of the matter that individuals and couples bring to therapy. In doing so, I have been able to successfully partner with individuals and couples in comprehensive approaches toward healing from past trauma and to assist them in navigating a pathway from just surviving life, to thriving in life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My passion is working with young and older adults who are ready for change. Persons I work with are willing to approach difficult topics, explore their feelings, have their beliefs challenged, and practice new skills. I work with individuals who are willing to invest in themselves for the desired change they seek in therapy.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I've been using Cognitive Behavior Therapy or CBT for more than 8 years. This therapeutic approach has allowed me to help individuals identify how their beliefs impact their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In therapy, as we identify inaccurate or false beliefs, we are able to redefine beliefs that are more accurate and aligned to what we want and how we want to think, feel and behave.
