New to Grow
I am a licensed clinician with nearly twenty years of experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, life transitions, and complex stressors. Much of my clinical work has been in primary care settings, where I worked with individuals experiencing the intersection of mental health concerns, medical conditions, and significant life challenges. I take a strengths‑based, collaborative approach and value creating space for clients to share their stories in a way that feels respectful and empowering. My work focuses on building practical coping skills, supporting emotional balance, and helping clients navigate change at a pace that feels manageable and meaningful. I draw from evidence‑based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT‑informed), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT‑informed), mindfulness‑based strategies, Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also have extensive experience collaborating with psychiatrists and supporting clients who are receiving psychiatric medication as part of their care. I value ongoing learning and continuing education to ensure my work remains thoughtful, ethical, and responsive to each client’s needs. I recognize that starting therapy can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming, and I strive to create a supportive, grounded space where growth can happen with honesty, compassion, and mutual respect. Life can be challenging and uncertain, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in creating meaningful change.
During our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I’ll likely ask about current concerns, relevant background, and what you’re hoping to gain from our work together. You are welcome to share at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We’ll focus on understanding your goals and identifying what feels most important to address right now. I aim to create a respectful, supportive space where you can ask questions, clarify expectations, and begin to feel grounded in the process. There is no pressure to have everything figured out during the first session. By the end of our meeting, we’ll discuss next steps and begin to shape an approach that feels realistic, collaborative, and responsive to your needs. If helpful, we may also identify a few practical coping strategies during the first session.
What makes my work unique is the combination of nearly two decades of experience and a primary care background, which allows me to support adults navigating the intersection of mental health concerns, medical conditions, and life stressors with a grounded, whole‑person approach. My experience in primary care has shaped how I practice therapy—practical, collaborative, and attentive to the real‑world factors that affect emotional well‑being, including health changes, medication, stress, and daily functioning. Clients often describe my style as steady and supportive, particularly if they feel hesitant, overwhelmed, or unsure about starting therapy. I use evidence‑based approaches such as CBT‑informed and DBT‑informed strategies, mindfulness‑based practices, Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, tailoring my approach to each client’s needs and readiness for change. I also have extensive experience collaborating with psychiatrists and supporting clients who incorporate medication into their care. I value honesty, transparency, and continued professional growth, and I remain committed to providing ethical, thoughtful, and effective care.
You may be navigating a period of transition, emotional stress, or uncertainty and finding that it’s taking more energy than it used to. Many of the clients I work with are managing concerns such as anxiety, low or depressed mood, grief or loss, sleep difficulties, changes in health or functioning, or the everyday stressors that can begin to affect how you feel about yourself and your relationships. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. My ideal clients are open to reflection and practical change, even if they’re unsure where to begin. You might be seeking support during a challenging season of life, looking for additional perspective, or wanting to feel more grounded and emotionally balanced. I work best with individuals who value a thoughtful, collaborative approach and prefer to build coping strategies at a pace that feels manageable and respectful. If you feel hesitant about therapy, new to the process, or are returning after a long break, you’re welcome here. My goal is to offer a calm, supportive space where you can move forward with clarity and confidence, without feeling rushed or pressured.

I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have experience using DBT‑informed interventions with clients who experience emotional dysregulation, high stress, and interpersonal challenges. My approach is collaborative, skills‑based, and grounded in helping clients develop practical tools to increase emotional stability and self‑understanding. I integrate DBT skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness into sessions based on each client’s needs. I focus on teaching and practicing skills in a supportive, real‑world context so clients can apply them outside of session to manage emotions, relationships, and daily stressors. My training in DBT and work with personality disorders included exposure to attachment theory and relational patterns, particularly as they relate to emotional regulation, identity, and interpersonal functioning. While DBT remains my primary framework, this understanding helps inform how I conceptualize relationship dynamics and support clients in developing healthier patterns of connection.
I was trained in Solution‑Focused Therapy during graduate school and continue to use this strengths‑based approach in my clinical work. I believe clients possess existing strengths and resources that can support meaningful change, and my role is to help bring those strengths into focus. I use solution‑focused techniques such as identifying strengths, exploring exceptions, and setting clear, achievable goals. Sessions emphasize collaboration, practical steps, and forward movement rather than focusing solely on problems.
I received training in Narrative Therapy during graduate school and value its emphasis on meaning‑making, identity, and client voice. This approach supports clients in understanding how life experiences and personal stories shape their sense of self. I work with clients to examine and re‑author personal narratives that may feel limiting or distressing. Through reflection and dialogue, we identify strengths, resilience, and alternative perspectives that support more empowering personal stories. My clinical training included exposure to attachment theory within the context of personality disorder treatment. This perspective supports my narrative work by helping clients explore how early relational experiences have shaped their personal stories, coping strategies, and sense of self, while maintaining a strengths‑based and collaborative approach.
I am continuing to expand my use of mindfulness‑based approaches and have applied mindfulness‑informed practices in approved work with immigrant children and their families. My approach is practical, culturally responsive, and focused on helping clients build awareness and emotional grounding. I incorporate mindfulness techniques such as grounding exercises, breath awareness, and present‑moment observation to help clients manage stress, regulate emotions, and increase self‑awareness. Practices are adapted to each client’s comfort level and integrated gently into sessions.
My work is grounded in a strengths‑based perspective that emphasizes resilience, existing coping skills, and personal resources. I believe effective therapy builds on what clients are already doing well. I intentionally help clients identify strengths, past successes, and effective coping strategies, and incorporate these into treatment goals. This approach supports empowerment, confidence, and sustainable change.
