Hello,
I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that).
At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy.
As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran.
Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.
I have 20+ years as a licensed professional counselor and 15 years post graduation in clinical psychology. My virtual practice focuses on women and men who are seeking to reduce depression and anxiety while enhancing positive mood. These sessions are priced by your insurance company. I have in person sessions working with individuals and families of all ages. Clients are taught coping strategies to manage difficult feelings. My approach is to conduct evaluations, design treatment plans, and facilitate individual therapy.
My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology from Texas A&M University, a master's degree in professional counseling from Texas State University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Alliant International University. My doctoral dissertation was "Childhood Near-Death Experiences and Psychotherapy." In 2009, this research study won an award for meeting the California Mental Health Services Act requirements for research about spirituality.

I’m a down-to-earth, no-nonsense human with a knack for noticing the behavior patterns that keep people stuck. Therapy is a second career for me, but it feels like the work my life experiences were preparing me to do all along. I bring warmth, honesty, curiosity, and a little humor into the room because healing can be meaningful without being serious every single minute. I work especially well with people pleasers, chronic overthinkers, boundary-strugglers, and anyone who is tired of living according to everyone else’s expectations.

My counseling journey began in 2019, inspired by a deep commitment to helping people navigate life’s challenges and discover their inner resilience. I hold a Master of Science in Licensed Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing, which allows me to bring both clinical expertise and creativity into my work.

I integrate evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. Through this integrative lens, I help clients regulate emotions, reframe unhelpful self-narratives, and cultivate healthier coping skills. Mindfulness practices support clients in staying present and grounded, while Narrative Therapy empowers them to rewrite their stories with hope and clarity. Above all, I strive to create a safe, supportive space where healing feels possible.
My goal is to provide care that is not only effective but also tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and together we work toward clarity, confidence, and lasting growth.

Hi there, I'm David! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in South Texas. I received my Masters from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and have been practicing for 8 years. I love helping people build practical, faith-informed skills they need to navigate everyday struggles. Your story matters. The issues of your heart matter. Let's work together to uncover the grace and celebrate the victories.
Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the great state of Texas. I am happy you are reaching out and partnering into this journey of bringing out the best in yourself through healing and recovery. I am here for you! If you feel stuck or misunderstood because of life's experiences causing anxiety, stress, or trauma, I can help. I have always had a heart and passion for helping people and did so throughout my career in the military, civil service, and then later when I started my counseling journey in 2010 and then received my master’s from Liberty University. Counseling is a ministry that I have a passion for helping people of all ages navigate and overcome a variety of life's challenges. Good mental health positively affects our physical health. It is important for all to have the opportunity to receive mental health services. If a client qualifies, I accept sliding scale. I have been attentive to the needs of both at risk residential and outpatient children, adults, and families, while ensuring a welcoming, trusting, no-judgement environment. Hi, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Master's from Lamar University in Beaumont Texas. I have been practicing for less than 5 years. I am a practical, and down-to-earth individual. As a clinician, I help families, young adults, couples, and individuals by providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to explore their thoughts and feelings. My approach to therapy is compassionate and client-centered, focusing on their unique needs and goals.
The first step to healing is acknowledging there is an issue. As we mature through life some of us face more challenges than others. It is not the challenges we face that defines us but the steps we take to deal with the challenges that define us. Seeking guidance, an ear to listen is not a sign of weakness but strength for it takes a strong individual to acknowledge, seek and accept a helping hand. My passion has always centered around being a helping hand. I have experience in working with children, adolescents and their parents in addressing emotional issues and developing appropriate social skills. I have experience in working with juveniles dealing with mental health issues and a background in case management to provide families with necessary resources. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, the focus of the conversation is on you the individual, your needs, your strengths and barriers and finding ways to develop and increase your skills to live the life you want to live.
Sometimes it is scary to jump or to even take the first step so congratulations on taking the first step and reaching out.
As a board-certified counselor with over 25 years of experience in social services, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals and couples navigate life’s toughest challenges. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship distress, or major life transitions, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard, valued, and understood.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Webster University and utilize an integrative therapeutic approach tailored to your unique needs. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individual clients understand how their thoughts shape their world, and incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to discover practical, goal-oriented strategies for immediate relief and future growth. My clinical philosophy centers on a vital pivot: I prioritize protecting your long-term energy and sustainable well-being over just maintaining a comfortable, temporary peace. As a Christian woman, you want a therapist who understands both your faith and your struggles without judgement. I help women who feel anxious, overwhelmed, and unlike themselves find steadiness in their emotions, their relationships, and their walk with God.
Maybe you’ve noticed changes in your mood, find yourself overthinking, or have questions about relationships that matter to you. It could be that you are going through a difficult season, hormonal changes related to perimenopause or PMDD, or due to memories and hurts that still affect you today. You may be telling yourself that if you prayed more or tried harder, you’d be fine. I hear this a lot. You’re not going crazy, and you’re not weak. What used to work just isn’t working right now.
As a bilingual (English & Español), licensed therapist with 20 years of experience, I’ve walked with many women of all ages through hard seasons. In our sessions, we’ll figure out what’s going on and work on practical ways to calm your mind, manage your emotions, and relate to yourself with great self-compassion.
As a Christian therapist, I can draw on biblical truths alongside proven approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, so your faith becomes part of your healing. If you’d rather keep faith out of our sessions, that’s completely okay too.

Family dynamics can be complex, especially as individuals navigate through adulthood. You may find old patterns hard to shake. Through careful reflection, we explore patterns of brokenness in order to promote true healing and lasting change. You can develop a deeper understanding of familial patterns and behaviors, and ultimately foster stronger, healthier relationships.
Many of those I work with are self-proclaimed perfectionists, Type A Personalities, and high Achievers experiencing burnout. Often, this burnout stems from feeling like "no one else will step up" so you do. We work together to learn to lay the heavy load down and show up fully as yourself in order to create a more balanced work/life balance. We identify beliefs supporting driven behavior and pressures living. While also taking steps to put sustainable boundaries in place and strengthen your relationships so you can have real periods of relaxation without the guilt!
I am committed to empowering you to lead a fulfilling, meaningful life. I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and understood, and together we find the tools and resources to make that a reality.
Is your child or teen struggling with emotions, behavior, or navigating life’s challenges? As a parent, you might feel overwhelmed and uncertain how to help. I have been providing counseling to children, teens and their parents for the past 12 years. I have worked in a wide variety of settings including non-profit counseling centers and school settings. I help children and teens recognize their own strengths to overcome challenges life throws at them. I also love working with parents, as I wholeheartedly believe that all parents want their children to thrive and have the power to make that happen.
