I am a licensed clinical social worker with three years of experience, during which I’ve developed a strong sense of who I am as a therapist and what allows me to best support my clients. I strive to keep sessions light‑hearted so clients feel genuinely accepted, and I work intentionally to create a non‑judgmental, safe space where they can learn, grow, and become the best version of themselves, all within a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and authenticity.
My focus is reconciliation. Healing is often achieved through us becoming reconciled with self and/or others. It can be a process that allows us to identify and modify our thoughts and behaviors. We are all a work in progress and rightly so as circumstances are constantly changing. I believe that each person should have an opportunity to express themselves in a safe, nurturing, judgement free zone. As we seek to gain an understanding of self and others, often we experience a shift in our processing. If you are stuck or it feels like you are spinning out of control like a hamster on a wheel, let’s talk about “it”.
My name is Janessa Butts, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a background in military service. My clinical background includes working in inpatient settings, supporting clients with complex mental health concerns, co-occurring disorders, chronic health conditions, ADHD, and more. These experiences have deepened my commitment to individualized care rooted in compassion and respect.
My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and rooted in helping clients understand the connection between their mind and body. Often, our thoughts, emotions, and physical responses tell a deeper story about our experiences. Together, we will explore those patterns in a safe and supportive space, helping you build insight, resilience, and practical tools for lasting change. My goal is not simply symptom relief, but empowerment — so you can better understand yourself, respond rather than react, and move forward with confidence and clarity.

What if you could write the story of your life? The truth is, you can, you are in control of your destiny, you are writing the story of your life right now. The choices you make are directly related to the thoughts you have. That puts you in control, you have the ability to change the way you think, and when you change the way you think, you change your life.
The thoughts you are thinking right now are writing the story of your life. If you are not happy with the story, you can reprogram your thoughts to change the story and write it the way you want it to go. Together you and I can work to manage the challenges you are facing today.
Therapy may seem scary or even overwhelming, but with the right partner you really can change your life. Together we will explore how your thoughts and the dimensions of wellness are affecting your life and find a path to change the story of your life, to one of positive emotional and mental well-being.
I have been a trauma trained therapist that has worked with teens and families for over 20 years in schools, hospitals and private practice settings. My career started as a classroom teacher and school counselor. I currently have over 20 years of experience working with students and families. In addition to my school counseling career, I am a crisis clinician in a major hospital in the DFW metroplex and work in over 32 emergency rooms providing on-call patient care. We all face unexpected challenges which sometimes leave us feeling hopeless and powerless. I believe that we have the ability to make healthy and appropriate choices regardless of the circumstances in which we may find ourselves. My role as a therapist is to assist and support clients as they learn new ways of coping and adjusting to life’s challenges. Counseling will vary depending upon one’s personality, stage of life, strengths or particular concern. Getting started can feel overwhelming. You have no idea where to even begin. You’ve been putting off therapy because you’re afraid it won’t help. More than anything you’d like to be able to feel happy again. You’d like to be able to put yourself out there more and to create deeper, more meaningful relationships with others. You want to have the courage to be your authentic self without hiding behind a mask.
