Hello! My name is Donyell Davis and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Texas. I earned my Master’s in Social Work with a focus on Services to Children and Families from Our Lady of the Lakes University. I have 14 years of experience in the social work field working with diverse populations. My clients often describe me as empathetic, compassionate, and attentive. I pride myself on being an open-minded lifelong learner with a keen interest in evidence-based practice interventions. I chose to become a therapist because I discovered that blending the heart of a social worker with the professional skill set of an effective therapist profoundly enhances individuals’ quality of life. What sets me apart is my collaborative approach: we embark on this journey together to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, without rushing the process. I enjoy working through issues that I have personally experienced like being a single parent, losing a spouse and the affects it has on the family system, raising a child with a disability, work-life balance, unhealthy relationships, lack of a support system, absence of a positive role model early in life, navigating life challenges, obtaining personal growth, and communication skills.
In our first session we’ll begin with a brief psychosocial assessment and then delve into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will allow us to create a tailored treatment plan to guide our work in follow-up sessions.
I can relate to a lot of the issues we will work through due to my own personal experience of overcoming different types of adversity from early childhood throughout adolescence as well as in adulthood. Growing up in a disadvantaged community drives my passion to empower my clients to build resilience and skills needed to reach their full potential. My approach leads to measurable and effective patient outcomes. I am inclusive of all communities and offer unconditional positive regard.
Donyell Davis offers therapy covered by UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address a wide range of psychological issues. CBT helps recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. My goal is to collaborate with patients on a treatment strategy tailored to their current life circumstances. By the end of treatment, patients are empowered with practical skills to independently navigate life challenges beyond therapy sessions.
Compassion focused treatment focuses on self compassion and plays a big role in helping individuals with high self-criticism, shame, and guilt. I helps build skills and resilience needed to alleviate suffering and bring about change in your life.
Strengths based therapy focuses on finding and building qualities you possess so that we can use them to solve your problems.
