I’m glad you reached out for support. Taking that step can require courage and strength. Many of the adults I work with are doing their best to hold everything together but feel overwhelmed on the inside. You may be dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, health concerns, difficult past experiences, or a major change in your life. You may also be facing grief, relationship challenges, questions about who you are, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself.
I believe therapy should feel human, compassionate, and practical rather than clinical or cold. I offer a space where you can speak openly, feel heard, and explore what you are going through without judgment. Together, we can look at what is weighing on you, build on the strengths you already have, and develop practical tools that support you in daily life. If you are feeling stuck, tired, or ready for something to change, I’m here to help you take the next step.
Our first session is a chance for me to listen and learn more about you and what brought you to therapy. You will have space to talk openly about what has been difficult and what you would like to change. We can begin identifying what is weighing on you, the strengths you already have, and practical ways therapy can support you. My goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and comfortable moving at a pace that works for you.
I work with adults in Ohio, Arizona, and Nevada who may look like they are managing well on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, health concerns, life changes, relationship challenges, grief, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

I am dually and independently licensed in mental health (Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor or LISW-S) and substance abuse (Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor - Clinical Supervisor or LICDC-CS). For the past 25 years, I have worked with men and women who are struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, anger, relationship issues, mental health issues, substance use issues, and other issues, to learn the skills and thought processes needed to become successful.
I specialize in Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Anger Management, Life Transitions, Stress Management, Women's Issues, and Ethnicity/Diversity Issues.
I have an eclectic approach and believe that you are your own expert who needs evidence-based tools. I will walk through deep waters with you, promising to provide a judgment-free zone. Steven Johnston CPC LPCC-S has been a clinical counselor for over twenty years, with special training in the areas of Pastoral Counseling , having additonal experience in treating victims of Domestic Violence ; Child Sexual Abuse; Trauma, workplace issues and Marital counseling.
A graduate from Ashland Theological Seminary in 1988. Because Mr. Johnston did not want to exclude religious commitment issues from the therapeutic setting, he chose to pursue his Counseling degree from Ashland Seminary after graduating with ministerial degree from the Foursquare Church of the Gospel’s, Life Bible College East. He has continued to extend his Clinical Pastoral Studies through membership and training in the American Association of Christian Counselors.
To avoid excluding an aspect of life that has shown to be of central importance to nearly two-thirds of the US population, Mr. Johnston has sought to integrate spiritual issues from a Biblical point of view in a way compatible with Biblical doctrine and Pastoral Counseling. This integration as it applies to marital, family and individual issues has been found to promote inner healing as it supports the client’s own religious coping skills.
