Hi there! I'm a Licensed Psychologist based in Georgia. I received my PhD from the University of South Carolina and have been practicing for a combined 6 years between graduate school, predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship. I have worked in both outpatient and hospital settings. I help teens, young adults, and adults struggling with the effects of trauma. I specialize in evidence-based trauma treatment. I believe for most clients, therapy shouldn't be indefinite and I think it's unfair for providers to keep clients coming back if they aren't seeing desired changes or setting new treatment goals. Most trauma treatments last around 8-15 sessions. My goal is not for you to feel everything is "perfect" by the end, but for you to feel confident in your ability to use the skills you've learned in your everyday life. I believe in you!

***Accepting new clients and wide range of appointment times outside normal business hours!*** I’ve worked with a wide variety of clients between outpatient clinic work, inpatient psychiatric facilities, and everything between! In my free time I read and play video games, hang out with my pet ducks (Curly Fry and Goldilocks von Marshmallow) or my dog Morticia. I’ve learned many ways of coping with anxiety and depression, stress from home or work, along with many other issues. I work with a lot of couples who struggle with communication, infidelity, and a host of other problems that can come up at any stage in your lives together. I may not be your typical therapist who is warm and fuzzy, but I’m down to earth and connect with nearly every client I meet. I will give any client a shot. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions!

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am passionate about helping clients reach their treatment goals. Outside of behavioral health care and in my free time, I enjoy being a homebody and all of the peace that comes with it, activity nights with my family, and listening to music. In Therapy, I operate with the belief that my clients are the experts in their life and I am the professional. We work together to maximize clients reaching their goals in therapy. I rely on the client's expertise in their life experiences as much as they rely on my professional knowledge, compassion and skill sets in therapeutic sessions. I know my clients possess an inner strength and resiliency that promotes the groundwork for therapy. My welcoming, compassionate, and relaxed counseling style creates an environment where patients feel understood and valued, and where they can be their authentic selves without fear of judgment.

I am an Afro-Caribbean mom and forever learner. Psychology and healing deeply excite me. I dipped my toe into psychiatry for the first time as a high school student and am still furthering my education in clinical psychology today. I know there is a greater capacity for healing available to individuals who have always looked inward, fist-fought generational patterns, and still feel stuck in a world that says they need 15 more tasks completed by yesterday. I work to be a safe resting place for people who have moved from therapist to therapist, searching for someone who will truly see them for who they are rather than who the world has tried to mold them into. I desire to fill the Keturah-sized space in that wellness gap. I enjoy working side-by-side with clients to explore areas of possibility, rest, healing, and growth, and then provide the tools to make these things possible.

Hello, I'm Dr. Ellinor Burke and I'm a psychologist licensed in the state of Georgia. I've been in practice for more than 20 years and I've struggled with some of the same issues many of you do. I have developed effective treatments for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder because I have dealt with this disorder myself. If you're looking for an effective treatment I have one. Many of us are worriers and have anxiety related to this. Anxiety can have a draining effect on your life but it is treatable. .I use cognitive and behavioral therapy combined with supportive therapy to help you get to that positive place in your life. If you're dealing with depression I'm also here to help by looking at how your thoughts feelings and behaviors influence each other and how we can work together to deal with these issues. I see patients with varying issues and from many age groups. All in all a diverse population. I was a school psychologist for more than ten years and I do educational assessments as well as therapy for adolescents. I find teenagers are some of the most challenging and rewarding to work with. My work is very emotionally rewarding which is why I've been in practice for so many years. I'm now considering expanding my practice to a hybrid practice which will include seeing clients both remotely and in my office. Therapy begins with me getting to know you and for you to feel comfortable with me. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment because therapy works when we have a positive connection which I hope we will have.

My name is Bill Massey and I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in west central Georgia and east central Alabama. I graduated from the University of Georgia's MSW program in 1993 and became an LCSW in 1996. I have worked in home health and hospice for most of my career with a strong emphasis on geriatrics and dementia care. I have experience in inpatient psychiatric settings and residential services as well. I am looking to fill a niche that I have seen wanting attention for some time. For many years I have seen elders and their families in their homes but had to refer out any counseling other than crisis intervention to outpatient therapists. The problem is that I have been referring homebound people for outpatient therapy. This is not effective for many reasons. With the help of Grow Therapy, I intend to offer my services of counseling and case management to people in the comfort of their own homes. I will become a mobile mental health provider to serve a population that has gone largely underserved for all too long. My coverage area for in-home therapy will be Lee, Russell, and Chambers counties in Alabama as well as Muscogee, Chattahoochee, and Harris Counties in Georgia. I am opening up limited appointment times for virtual counseling as of mid May 2024.

Seeking help though therapy is one of the bravest acts of courage you will experience. Many times as we move through life we may feel isolated and alone. You are not alone. I would love to walk the journey with you. Life is too heavy for you to carry and sort through all its challenges on your own. My goal is to encourage and empower my clients to be the best version of themselves.

As a former football coach, I have developed an approach to therapy that will allow me to utilize coaching concepts to address the needs of my clients. It encompasses a direct approach to address problems with the a level of understanding and empathy that will support a change in behavior. This works well with my CBT background. Therefore I have branded myself as The Therapy Coach. Which means that I am more than just a therapist to my clients.

Hi Im Christina, I truly believe in building a trusting relationship that leads to the empowerment and growth of the client. As a mother of three and a lover of nature, i get that life is not always what we want or expect it to be, there are times when one's path is unclear and finding one's way becomes quite difficult. If you keep on doing what you've always done, you will keep on getting what you have always gotten. If you are not living your best life it is time to make a commitment to yourself and dedicate the time and energy to increase the quality of your life. I understand how life can sometimes overwhelm us. Whether you’ve just experienced a loss, a major change in your life, or you’ve been living with this sense of struggle for years, I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which positive change can occur, and can help you find your way. Making yourself a priority is absolutely a necessity. I have a bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Georgia.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take EAP:Cigna?

Yes! If you use EAP:Cigna you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have EAP:Cigna you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
