Hello! My name is Leticia Graham. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Southeast Georgia. I received my Bachelor of Science in Health with an emphasis on Substance Abuse in 1995 from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. I later decided to return to the University of North Florida and received my Master of Science in Health with an emphasis on Health Education/Health Promotion and my Master of Public Health. I worked as a substance abuse counselor for 15 years with both adolescents and adults in Jacksonville, Florida. Many of these clients were dual diagnosed clients (also suffering from mental health issues). In November 2013, I was laid off due to the grant I worked under ending and not being renewed. During this time, I have found that I would like to continue working in the counseling field on a part-time basis while my daughter is in school. It was at this time that I decided to pursue my Master of Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Christ led me to this career.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we will begin building rapport by getting to know more about each other. This will allow for you as the client to ask questions you may have. This allows me to better define what you are truly wanting from therapy. Many times clients want to work on multiple things. The first sessions allows us to talk about what is most important. Getting to know you and what you are wanting will allow for your treatment plan to be specifically designed for you and direct the path of our future sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Knowing Christ is my greatest strength. Christ challenges me in using His words to help direct clients on the path of healing. Another strength is my previous work with telehealth services. Working with clients through telehealth for five (5) years with substance abuse clients and five (5) years with mental health clients has prepared me to work with clients needing and wanting distance counseling.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with a variety of clients. One particular group of clients are Black women and men. Within the Black culture, there have historically been very few to believe in counseling. Being a Black clinician allows for others within the culture to realize there are people who look like them who are within the counseling field to help them. However, I do not limit myself to only Black clients. I enjoy working with clients with different cultures. This also allows me to learn about them and challenge any traditional counseling techniques. I enjoy working with adolescents because they need an adult to listen to and hear them and their challenges. Working with Christians offers another aspect to the counseling to assist clients in their mental health healing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is very beneficial in both mental health and substance about counseling. CBT is used to help people to understand that when our thought process changes our behavior will also change. I use CBT to help people think about their behaviors and how they would like for those behaviors to change.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused Brief Treatment allows for me to work with clients on specific challenges that the client is needing a solution for. The client works through the challenge with my assistance to decide the best solution for the client.

Christian Counseling

Christian Counseling allows for the client to include their Christian beliefs into therapy. This may include Bible verses or other biblical information to help the client with their challenges.
