I hold a BA in Forensic Psychology and MA in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College, and have years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, and relational conflict. I think it is important for a therapist to be able to implement multiple approaches to the therapy process in order to best serve a client. I do predominantly utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed approaches, but I may modify the approach to best meet your needs and goals. My main focus is helping you make progress and meet your identified goals. I initially was drawn to being a therapist because I wanted to help others meet life's challenges and understand that sometimes we need a partner/support on that journey. I have worked with many different populations over the course of my career, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. Additionally, I have experience working in many different settings, including community mental health, inpatient mental health units, juvenile justice, nursing homes, and adult corrections. I believe these varied experiences and populations have helped to make me a well-rounded therapist.

I am licensed in Florida with 10+ years of professional work experience in conflict resolution and mental health counseling. I believe that empowerment is an essential and powerful tool in the healing process. I approach the therapist-client relationship with an open heart and mind, building upon trust, collaboration, and empathy to produce positive, transformative outcomes. I seek to facilitate change by entering the client’s psychological world, utilizing a phenomenological lens; this allows me to focus on the lived experiences of each individual and the personal meaning behind their circumstances past, present, and future to determine the most effective therapeutic interventions. My holistic approach to psychotherapy focuses on the overall relationship between mind, body & spirit. I have experience in helping clients with LGBTQ+ related issues, relationship issues, life transitions, family conflicts, coping with grief, coping with loss, motivation, and self esteem. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.

I have spent years working with individuals and helping them through addiction, trauma, anxiety and every day troubles. Often co-occurring disorders such as codependency and depression live just under the surface and make it hard to sustain a life of meaning and purpose. When these issues are addressed, true healing is possible. I love to assist people in discovering their true self by working through their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. My practice incorporates the behavioral sciences by utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavior therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy in order to promote emotional healing and spiritual wholeness. I also have extensive post graduate training in areas related to neuropsychology, adoption, custody, child abuse, and forensics. I am qualified as an expert in these areas in several court jurisdictions in Florida and have worked internationally as well (Japan and Europe) in context with the military and internationals from Japan, Italy, and England. My doctoral research areas were Case Conceptualization and Attachment/Adult Psychopathology and I have served as an adjunct professor in clinical mental health My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I consider our therapeutic relationship as one as "an exchange of ideas". My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, psychodynamic and developmental based counseling. I am well trained in other modalities as well. I understand that it takes courage to seek help, and it's not easy to face fear. I do not believe that "you are your diagnosis". Rather, I will view you "as a a unique individual facing some challenges". My background and training is unique, and I think you will find that I see things very differently than most clinicians. I look forward to working with you!

My name is Dr. Olushola Bakare, and my work centers on helping people recognize the strengths they already carry. Just as a fish is built to swim and a bird to fly, I believe each of us has our own natural way of moving through life, and my role is to help you find and lean into yours. I work with adults and older adults who are ready to feel more grounded, confident, and understood, in a space that is safe, warm, and free of judgment. To help make sure we are the right fit from the start, I want to be upfront that my practice does not currently include couples counseling, medication management, or completing disability, FMLA, or legal paperwork. I work with adults 18 years and older. If any of these are part of what you are looking for, I am happy to help you find a provider whose practice is built around that support.

I am a licensed therapist in Florida with over 15 years of professional experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am EMDR trained and work with children, adolescents, and adults. My therapeutic approach is integrative and draws from Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Reality-based theories. I utilize a range of evidence-based interventions, including client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive restructuring, and mind–body connection techniques. I have extensive experience working with trauma, addiction, self-esteem and confidence issues, anxiety, anger management, ADD/ADHD, and depression. I chose this profession after recognizing how deeply our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are shaped by our self-concept. That understanding inspired my commitment to helping others heal, grow, and move forward with support and encouragement. My therapeutic “toolbox” is broad and adaptable, allowing me to meet you where you are and tailor treatment to your unique goals and needs. You do not have to navigate this journey alone—you have an ally in this process.

Do you feel overwhelmed these days? Are you constantly trying to strike a balance between the demands of work and parenting or co-parenting, while also managing your health, housework, and perhaps other demands? In your family, does the caretaking always fall to you? Are you experiencing depression and anxiety in reaction to either a past trauma and/or burnout from stress? I work with women who are experiencing what I like to call "multiple-role fatigue". I have experience in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma-related stress disorders common to women who face an ever-mounting load of responsibilities in a complex society, where being a mother or a caretaker often comes with diverse challenges and responsibilities. I also like to work with clients on their recovery from trauma. With this in mind, I incorporate various treatment modalities, where healing and recovery can take place through a combination of compassionate conversation, active listening, homework assignments journaling, mindfulness, self-reflection, cognitive behavior therapy, grief counseling, boundary setting and trauma-informed care. I also offer a faith-based support, where clients seeking a Christian approach are welcome. I like to form a supportive alliance with caregivers to help them navigate the demands of parenting a child or children with higher needs. I focus on parental needs, and I work with clients using evidence-based techniques to empower them to achieve balance and experience lasting well-being. For parents, I'm a big advocate of self-care, and I help my clients learn to nurture themselves in a sustainable way to avoid burnout. I also believe that parents need to feel seen and heard, and the stress of parenting cannot be overemphasized. Forming a partnership with parents, giving them a forum in which they feel consistently supported in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, therefore, is one of my top priorities as a therapist.
