I believe individuals are the "experts on themselves" and possess the ability to make the desired positive change in their lives. In the session, we will utilize a Person Center Approach consisting of meeting the individual were they are, actively listening, providing support, encouragement, and validation, as well as utilizing Evidence -Based Treatment Modalities ( such Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Person Centered Approach, and Psychoeducation) Supportive Therapy, Stress Management, and Anger Management. Together, we will work collaboratively to treat the whole person and empower the person to find their way forward.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, I will provide a safe and comfortable environment for the individual . Together, we will develop a therapeutic rapport and alliance. Together, we will implement a Person Center Approach consisting of meeting the individual were they are, I will provide actively listening, support, encouragement, and validation during our sessions. I believe individuals are the "experts on themselves" and possess the ability to make positive desired changes in their lives.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

LaTonia Curtiss, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Psychotherapist, Addiction Specialist Associate, is a graduate of Saint Augustine’s University. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology. She is also a 2006 graduate of North Carolina Central University where she earned a Master’s of Art in Sociology, a 2010 graduate of Capella University where she earned a Master’s of Science in Human Services with a Specialization in Mental Health Counseling, a 2018 graduate of University of Southern California where she earned a Masters of Social Worker with a Specialization in Military Social Work. License and certification includes: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate (LCAS-A), Certified Anger Management Specialist II, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider (C-PD). She currently resides in greater Coastal Carolina treating civilian, military, and military family members suffering from mental health and/or substance abuse. She has over twenty years of experience within the counseling and human service profession.
