Hello, my name is Johanna Torres, and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I specialize in working with adult females experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, family conflicts, and past trauma. If you find yourself overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with panic attacks, emotional dysregulation, or experiencing the brain fog that comes with dissociation, or if you are simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and are motivated to improve your life, I am here to help. Yes, together, we will explore these issues, develop strategies to achieve your goals and objectives, and start healing.
I provide a calm and empathic communication style, using active listening and understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and core values of the clients. I will provide a safe space for my clients where they can feel free to talk about their feelings, problems, concerns, or situations to someone who will listen without judgment. The first session marks the beginning of what you've been contemplating for a while now. It's time to take that step forward.
My approach to therapy is client-centered, promoting self-acceptance, self-esteem, and personal growth, and minimizing negative feelings. I integrate various therapeutic methods and techniques to address each client's unique needs. I draw from different theories and practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Attachment-based Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for women who need to learn how to cope with anxiety, depression, PTSD, childhood trauma, family conflict, relationships, family conflicts, and past childhood trauma. Learning how to manage family conflicts and life challenges, establish healthy boundaries, and find a safe space to gain self-awareness, acceptance, and healing through trauma.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I frequently use Cognitive behavioral therapy when working with clients presenting symptoms of anxiety and depression. I have found it helpful to raise self-esteem, increase positive thoughts, anger management, self-growth and coping skills improvement.
Daialectical Behavior (DBT)
Using DBT as a treatment method has helped my clients manage behaviors, emotions, and thoughts acknowledging the need for change in a context of acceptance.
Eclectic
Using an eclectic therapeutic approach has been helpful when an integrative approach is necessary to meet a client's specific needs.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
The Clients that I have worked with have reported a decrease in their anxiety symptoms when they practice mindfulness techniques by focusing on the present. Mindfulness-based treatments have been shown to reduce anxiety and depression.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
A person-centered approach promotes unconditional positive regard and acceptance, empathy while helping the client minimize symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, or stress. When implementing this approach, I help the clients find a balance between the idealized self and the actual self while they strengthen trust in the self and others.

Johanna Torres is helping me with stress and finding solutions to help combat my new life situation and stressors from it. She makes me feel validated and that I know my own self while helping me find ways to reframe the mind. I continue to feel hopeful in the fit I have found on Grow Therapy.

I have just started my journey with Johanna, and so far I can say that she is an excellent listener. She pays close attention and shows genuine care during our sessions. From the very beginning, she has made me feel comfortable, supported, and heard. I am grateful for her guidance and look forward to continuing my journey with her.

Johanna and my 1st meeting was very professional and honest. She explained how everything would work while also listening to me and validating my goals and what I want to focus on.
