Hello, my name is Johanna Torres, and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I specialize in working with adult females experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, family conflicts, and past trauma. If you find yourself overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with panic attacks, emotional dysregulation, or experiencing the brain fog that comes with dissociation, or if you are simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and are motivated to improve your life, I am here to help. Yes, together, we will explore these issues, develop strategies to achieve your goals, and start healing.
I provide a calm and empathic communication style, using active listening and understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and core values of the clients. I will provide a safe space for my clients where they can feel free to talk about their feelings, problems, concerns, or situations to someone who will listen without judgment. The first session marks the beginning of what you've been contemplating for a while now. It's time to take that step forward.
My approach to therapy is client-centered, promoting self-acceptance, self-esteem, and personal growth, and minimizing negative feelings. I integrate various therapeutic methods and techniques to address each client's unique needs. I draw from different theories and practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Attachment-based Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for women who need to learn how to cope with anxiety, depression, PTSD, childhood trauma, family conflict, relationships, family conflicts, and past childhood trauma. Learning how to manage family conflicts and life challenges, establish healthy boundaries, and find a safe space to gain self-awareness, acceptance, and healing through trauma.
