You carry big responsibilities, and it’s been heavy for too long. I work with executive leaders, founders, high performers including parents to turn overwhelm into clarity. Together we’ll surface blind spots, remove roadblocks, and build workable boundaries so you can lead well at work, show up at home, and feel grounded in your relationships. Constant stress and exhaustion aren’t the cost of success. Excellence doesn’t require perfection and saying no is okay. With over a decade of experience across multiple states, I blend psychotherapy with practical consultation, offering confidential, results-focused care tailored to your unique world. I also provide corporate mental health training, parent coordination, custody evaluations, and psycho-legal consulting all delivered with discretion, expertise, and a deep understanding of high-stakes environments. I always knew that I wanted to be a helping professional. As part of an assignment, while taking a counseling course designed to assist offenders with substance abuse problems, I had to write in five words or less what I wanted people to remember about me. My words were “helped people live better lives.” I have over 30 years of experience working with clients who live with psychiatric and substance use disorders. I started my "helping" career working for the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). After observing the effects of early childhood trauma on many of the offenders that I supervised, I decided to end my 21-year career with GDC and pursue an education in counseling. I have never regretted this decision! For the last 6 years I have provided psychotherapy for individuals and groups. I love doing what I believe I have been called to do and my life's work remains guided by those five simple words in my title. I look forward to helping you learn to live a better life!

I'm Jamie Matthews, and I've been a counselor since 2007. I truly enjoy assisting clients in achieving their treatment objectives. Counseling, in my opinion, is about change, and I think people can alter any behavior that isn't working in their lives. I began my career in community mental health, where I worked with people who had severe and chronic mental illness. I gained a lot of experience assisting people in managing symptoms of severe anxiety, severe depression, hallucinations, and delusions. Using evidence-based techniques, I conducted mostly group counseling sessions and a few individual counseling sessions between 2007 and 2015. I worked as an outpatient therapist for children, adults, and families in a community mental health setting from 2015 to 2021. I have been working with clients in my own private practice since 2021, primarily utilizing telehealth services. Reaching clients in Ohio and Florida has been a great pleasure for me. I still employ DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and other methods to help my clients achieve their therapeutic objectives.
