Hello and welcome. My name is Dr. Michele Kapalcik or “Dr. Michele” for short. I am a licensed Counselor and Therapist in several states. I have worked with helping a multitude of clients with many disorders and personal backgrounds. In addition, I have a Ph.D in Addiction Psychology with over 25 years of sobriety myself. I am very familiar with all stages of addiction and am eager to help. I am a very kind hearted caring individual who takes pride in understanding the personal issues of others and applying personal treatment to meet their needs. I work with each client from start of treatment to finish to preserve and strengthen the counseling relationship to our needs, in order to meet or exceed client expectations.
During the first session, I usually complete a Biopsychosocial Assessment. This is a history type questionnaire that will help me to get to know you greatly. Unless you have some very pressing information to let me know, I generally start each session with introducing myself and completing the questionnaire, which will take the entire first session. Following the Initial session, we will start to explore areas of treatment and particular concerns and interests. Through most sessions, I will offer my undivided attention and will help you to process relevant and/or intrusive, obsessive, or negative and anxious thoughts and emotions and will provide you with a clearer understanding of your current and past thoughts, as well as will address the necessary coping skills and advice.
I tend to use Cognitive Behavioral Treatment techniques designed to enable one to recognize and change faulty or unwanted thoughts, as well as focus on maintaining a more stable and balanced mental health regimen for optimal functioning.
I am an excellent and dedicated listener with over 20 yrs. of experience with clients diagnosed with anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, trauma, relationship, coping, career, and personality disorders. I have dealt with a multitude of clientele and am licensed in several states.
