Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first therapy session, we focus on getting to know you and creating a safe, supportive space for open conversation. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, and what brings you to therapy, along with reviewing your past medical and mental health history. Together, we will explore your personal goals and what you hope to gain from therapy, then begin identifying realistic steps and approaches to help you reach those goals. This initial session is collaborative and paced to your comfort, allowing us to build a strong foundation for our work together. Did you know this about equine therapy? The steady rhythm of a horse’s heart can have a calming effect on a person’s nervous system. When people are near or touching a horse, their breathing and heart rate often begin to slow and sync with the horse’s calm, consistent heartbeat. This natural regulation helps reduce anxiety, promotes emotional grounding, and creates a sense of safety and connection, supporting healing and relaxation.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Pahoua is passionate about helping individuals manage stress before it develops into burnout, depression, or anxiety. She believes everyone benefits from having the right support and provides a professional, reliable, and compassionate space where clients feel heard and understood. She integrates evidence-based approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy. These approaches have helped many individuals process trauma, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and develop healthier thought patterns and coping strategies. Through these methods, clients can work toward healing past experiences, building resilience, and creating meaningful change in their daily lives. Outside of her work as a therapist, Pahoua enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. She loves hiking, running, and walking with her husband, children, and their two dogs. She also enjoys creative outlets such as crocheting, painting, drawing, and baking—and she proudly describes herself as someone who loves relaxing by the beach whenever she gets the chance.
