Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Greetings! My name is Mandy Millsap, and I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I have over seven years of experience in the mental health field as a counselor. I have extensive expertise in working with diverse client demographics with a wide range of concerns. I have been working in the social work field in different areas for twenty years. I have dedicated most of my career to working with children and families. During my time working with families I conducted weekly parenting group sessions using a fifteen week evidence based program. At the beginning of my career, I was employed at Florida International University through a grant funded program that lasted three years serving clients that experienced domestic violence. I have been employed in Miami Dade County public schools for seventeen years. In the school system I worked for three years conducting HIV and STD education for students in an at risk high school, worked for nine years as a school counselor and currently, I provide services families with special needs. I have been employed part-time at a psychiatric hospital for eight years, conducting group sessions, baker acts, individual sessions, family meetings and completing treatment plans.

I help young adults and adolescents struggling with life transitions, depression and anxiety. With a specialization in depression, anxiety, and life adjustments, I provide a safe and nurturing space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns without judgment.

EMDR and EMI (Eye Movement Integration) address trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, and a lot of other problems that keep us stuck. I am certified in EMDR. I use EMDR protocols, as well as other trauma-informed, creative and energy modalities. I offer a sharing space for us to meet. I can also facilitate coaching sessions, using goal setting, visualization and sensory techniques to help you achieve a new you, whether personally or professionally.
