Ruthie Doles
Building great relationships is one of the most meaningful aspects of life. Hello future client!
I have worked with those who have been involved with the child welfare/foster care system, including biological, kinship and adoptive families.
My name is Ruthie and I'm one of those rare native Floridians. My primary practice approach is relational, using interventions that can help you understand how the past influences your thoughts, feelings and actions within your relationships. Having a clearer picture of how you show up in relationships will improve your ability to connect with others in ways that will enhance your life. I want to support you to have the loving, fulfilling, respectful relationships you deserve. Social work is my second career, having retired after 34 years with Pinellas Couty Government. I proudly became a licensed therapist in 2020, one good thing that occurred during the Covid pandemic. I look forward to meeting you to determine how we can work together towards your goal of healthier, happier relationships.
First session
I love helping people, so I'm excited to meet you and figure out how we can work together to improve your mental health and relationship challenges. We'll talk about your current problems and identify which are causing you the most difficulty. We'll review a little history and background and develop goals that will help you feel healthier and more connected to those you love.
Strengths
I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety and depression, which can significantly hinder your interactions in relationships. I have worked with those who have been involved with the child welfare/foster care system, including biological, kinship and adoptive families. I use cognitive behavior therapy to improve social and emotional functioning. Relational therapy using CBT promotes the development of skills that will assist you to identify behavior patterns that can be a source of strength or create challenges in your relationships. We will explore past trauma that may prohibit self-growth and get in the way of your ability to maintain healthy relationships. I will teach you strategies to improve communication, foster and sustain a positive rapport with others and manage conflict in a healthy way.
Ideal clients
My passion is helping those who are struggling with a relationship in their lives. Couples or more, parent/child, extended family, co-workers, friends/peers... I will help you identify the root causes of conflict and develop ways to manage your thoughts and feelings to better handle any relationship issues.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is my core treatment method used to help clients understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With CBT, you will learn to manage difficult emotions and behaviors by identifying and changing negative or irrational thought patterns.
