Since 2005 I’ve had the privilege of working as a therapist and clinical social worker. I’ve had the honor of walking alongside my clients and bearing witness to some of their most life-changing and difficult experiences. These experiences are often accompanied by changes in sense of self, relationships, and quality of life that can be equally difficult to navigate. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and board certified diplomate in clinical social work (BCD). I completed my masters (MSW) and Ph.D. degrees in social work and am also a full-time university instructor. My work experience includes direct clinical practice as well as teaching in higher education, clinical supervision, and research. The therapeutic relationship begins within a safe space for expression, processing and problem-solving, and growth. Each client has the strength and abilities to work through the challenges they face. My role is to promote empowerment and provide clarity, insight, and support as clients master these challenges. I am a steadfast advocate for LGBTQ+ clients and families, racial and social justice, neurodivergence and mental health. Specialties: • Bipolar Disorder • Depression • Anxiety • Obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders • Personality disorders • Stress management • Stigma and self-stigma • Self-Injury and self-defeating behaviors • Relationship and family stressors • Adjustment to life changes and transitions • Self esteem **Please note: I do not specialize in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or complex trauma (C-PTSD) and do not provide services for intimate partner violence, domestic or emotional abuse, physical abuse, or sexual abuse or assault. If a traumatic event (past or recent) is the primary reason for seeking treatment, an expert/specialist is needed to provide in-depth, trauma-informed care.

My specialties are working with clients who may be suffering from traumatic incidents, substance abuse, various forms of anxiety (PTSD, stress disorders), depression, self-esteem, and gender identity. Making the decision to receive any form of mental health counseling can be taxing, however, the results are often positive and rewarding. Learning to face your fears in a healthy and appropriate manner is a sign of growth and maturity. It is not an easy task. You will cry, laugh, and maybe feel a little uncomfortable at times. This is just the therapeutic process working to make you emotionally stronger. *Please note that my preference for treatment sessions are individual and group therapy. I am a bilingual LCSW with over 10 years of experience working in the human services field; focusing on mental health, behavior, and non-profit work. I grew up in Los Angeles, Ca., completed my Master of Social Work at Fordham University in the Bronx, NY., and currently reside in Ocala, Fl. As an LCSW I treat clients from across the lifespan with varying therapeutic needs by applying an integrative approach to treatment. Some of my areas of experience include treating family systems and individuals navigating intergenerational trauma, parents and children dealing with challenging behavior, neurodivergent populations, and individuals with a desire to better understand themselves and the maladaptive behaviors causing distress, mood issues, and anxiety. Areas of specialty include working with young adults navigating life after high school, parenting individuals/partners, and those who identify as Latina women struggling to balance relationships, family, individual needs, and independence. I believe that everyone and their experiences are unique, this is why I meet clients where they are in their life journey, empowering them to find and enhance solutions and coping skills that meet their needs. Although I am trained in CBT and DBT these interventions are only a part of my integrative approach to treatment. Client-centered care remains at the center of treatment; as there is not one single intervention that is best for all. Your treatment is yours, together we will create a treatment plan that empowers you.

Hello. I am excited to guide you in taking your power back. If your life feels more challenging than it should, I can help you uncover and discover thoughts and behaviors that may be blocking you from living in the light so you can enjoy life to the fullest. Do you sometimes feel stuck with little to no options in dealing with challenging situations? Do you tend to react by fighting, fleeing, shutting down, or using mind-altering substances when you feel emotional distress? And soon after experience negative self-talk about the way you handled the situation? If you relate to this, I would love to teach you the reason humans tend to repeat patterns and explore alternative ways to find solutions.

As a Professional, I offer guidance to individuals, couples, families and groups who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being. Approach work holistically, using a “wellness” model (as opposed to an “illness” one) which highlights and encourages client’s strengths. Work with individuals, groups and communities to improve mental health. Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences. Work with families intimately, empathetically. I am pleased to share that I am certified and specialize in Anger Management, Grief, Trauma, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Parenting and Neuroscience (Neuropsychotherapy).

My mission is to empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges with resilience, clarity, and confidence. I take a holistic, client-centered approach rooted in the biopsychosocial model—addressing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and environment to support lasting well-being. Drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), I tailor each treatment plan to meet the unique needs of the person in front of me. I am also actively pursuing certification in Mind-Body Medicine through the Center for Mind Body Medicine and frequently integrate these techniques—such as meditation, guided imagery, and breathwork—into sessions to support emotional balance and self-regulation. With extensive training in geriatric assessment, I have a deep passion for working with older adults, helping them maintain cognitive and emotional vitality in later life. As a certified clinical supervisor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, I am also committed to mentoring and developing the next generation of compassionate, skilled social workers. Above all, I strive to create a warm, supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to move toward meaningful change.

Welcome! I am Marie Dillinger, a licensed therapist who has been working with individuals, couples and families pursuing counseling for over 17 years. My experience has centered around assisting adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulty adjusting and adapting to the changes they are experiencing in life, grief and trauma. The philosophical foundation of my therapy is based on the understanding that what we think influences how we feel which impacts how we behave. Therefore, to change any behavior or feeling we first need to address our thinking. My goal in the counseling process is to assist you in improving the quality of your life by guiding you in how to manage, resolve, and/or reconcile those issues in your life creating difficulty for you.
