(she/her)
My name is Mimose Montgomery, I affectionately go by “Mimi”. I received my Clinical Social Work Degree at Barry University. I am a bilingual Haitian-Creole and English speaking clinical therapist. I have 8 years of experience in this field. I have worked with people from all walks of life. My history of clinical counseling experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
Our first session is all about getting to know you and hear your story. We will explore your goals, and what brought you to therapy. I’ll create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you can feel safe to speak freely. We’ll explore what’s going on in your life, discuss what you hope to get out of therapy, and begin to identify the tools and support you might need. You don’t need to have it all figured out, just come as you are, and we’ll take it from there, together.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a space where clients feel truly seen and heard. I bring deep empathy, cultural sensitivity, and an understanding of how identity and lived experiences shape mental health. As a provider who values representation, I know how powerful it can be to sit with someone who reflects aspects of your own journey. I work from a place of genuine care, curiosity, and respect. My aim is to help clients feel and know that they are safe and validated. I empowered and support each individual to grow at their own pace; and if you need a little healthy push in the right direction, I aim to guide.
I work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, marriage and family challenges, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric conditions. I am a trauma informed therapist. I'm compassionate, reliable and relatable.
As a clinician trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), I work primarily with adults, and families who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps clients process difficult experiences while building coping skills, emotional regulation, and resilience. In my practice, I tailor TF-CBT to meet each client’s unique cultural and emotional needs. I focus on creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to tell their stories, reframe harmful beliefs, and reclaim their sense of self. My experience using TF-CBT has shown me just how powerful structured, compassionate, and collaborative trauma work can be in the healing process.
As a clinician trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help clients learn how to live more fully and intentionally, even in the presence of difficult thoughts and emotions. ACT isn’t about eliminating pain — it’s about changing our relationship to it. I guide clients in developing psychological flexibility, clarifying their personal values, and taking committed action aligned with those values. In my clinical work, I’ve used ACT with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I’ve found ACT especially powerful in helping people feel less stuck — it gives clients tools to notice their inner experiences without getting overwhelmed by them, and to move forward with purpose and self-compassion.
