Greetings: I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I am also licensed in Tennessee, my home state. I received my Doctorate in Counseling from the University of Memphis. I have been in practice for 20 years. Currently, I work with adult males with men's issues. The pressure of employment and maintaining healthy relationships impact men in unique ways. As a clinician with ADHD I have experienced firsthand many of the issues that individuals with ADHD face on a daily basis (poor experience with providers, family conflict regarding diagnosis, learning skills to accommodate my specific flavor of neurodiversity, etc). I think of ADHD as my own neurodiverse super power, and source of frustration. To paraphrase, “the ADHD giveth, and the ADHD taketh away.”

I started this journey of helping others in 2004 when I decided to make Mental Health a career choice. After earning a master's degree, I accepted my first paid position at Phoenix House of Brandon, FL and fell deeper in love with helping people emerge from whatever darkness they were experiencing in their lives. My passion is counseling those who struggle with various addictive behaviors (substance use, problem gambling, etc.) and co-occurring lifestyle issues. I have found person-centered, strength-based, and empathic approaches encourage clients to discover their capabilities for living a healthy, positive lifestyle.

Starting therapy can be a difficult process. I make this process as easy for you as possible. Therapy starts with us getting to know each other and for me to understand your needs for treatment. I want to make sure that I can meet your requirements and help you work on what you came into treatment for or find you someone who can. As a therapist, I help you become the best version of yourself. My job is to give you the skills to manage difficulties when they occur. Situations occur that you may not feel equipped to handle. Let me support you to help you get through and gain insight about yourself and your ability to handle things in the future. I provide a comfortable and non-intrusive environment. I work with people to help them develop a strong sense of self, learn to have healthier relationships, learn mindfulness, distress tolerance skills, and other ways to regulate their emotions, reduce anxiety, and learn to be less impulsive. She holds a strong background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Triple P Positive Parenting Program, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques. Carolina is passionate about working with kids aged 2 to 18, helping them navigate challenges related to anxiety, depression, and other emotional concerns.
