LMHC, 15 years of experience
New to Grow
Greetings! My name is Magnolia Hood and I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) proudly serving the residents of the state of Florida. I am an implant to Florida from the Midwest, with over 15 years of experience; holding additional training in trauma-informed therapies. Life can be difficult and there are many times that experiences can cause us more difficulty to adjust or cope with things that we need support from someone that can serve as a neutral party to help to identify the issues and determine how best to address them. I have worked in a number of treatment environments: residential, outpatient, substance abuse, and collegiate mental health. As your therapist I am the ultimate collaborator. I partner with you to help you to meet the goals that you desire to live the life that you envision.
Your first session is where we set the stage for our work together. This is where I create the safe space to allow you to do the work needed to identify the problems and we can brainstorm how we will get to the answers. We will discuss communication styles, similarities between the two of us, and how we will discuss the hard things. I will provide examples of the ways that I use the therapy space to support you on your journey and how you can get the most out of your experience.
Relationships matter, and I am the therapist that works with you to help you access your best self! I have a relational style that makes our work more transformational as I can serve in many capacities based on the goals identified and the work being done in session. I believe that all work needs to be celebrated and small wins are the building blocks to the the big ones. I am your cheerleader, teacher, advocate, mentor, therapist, GPS, and your coach!
My ideal clients are those looking to address issues related to grief, or the need to process trauma, or desire to improve their quality of life due to issues with anxiety, depression or other mental health distresses. I have partnered with clients that desire to address generational patterns and traumas and heal from the things that proceeded their birth, including parental wounds and estrangements. I am a Christian counselor, so for clients seeking faith-based interventions I can help provide a lens with which they can integrate into treatment.
With specializations in depression/anxiety, grief work, trauma, faith based (Christian) approaches, and interpersonal/relational issues. Past clients have described working with me as being "a safe place to be themselves". I am compassionate, warm, and humorous (at times) and values being able to help clients feel connected and comfortable to do the hardest work they may ever do. Whether it is engaging in grief work, managing depression, or processing trauma, I am an honored collaborator.
