I have experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, military related trauma. I also have experience with chronic illness and death and dying. I am passionate about creating a safe and affirming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals. I have worked with all ages during my career. I currently focus on working with adults. I currently offer Solutions Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I have chosen these modalities as they focus less on the problem and more on the solution and where you would like to be. They are empowerment based, placing you as the expert in the treatment room and of your own life. I am there merely as a guide to help you uncover your own potential and strengths. Originally from New Jersey, I earned my B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I moved to New York City in 1997 and completed my MSW at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work. In 2000, I completed a certification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health. Immediately after moving to Florida later that year in 2002, I completed additional coursework at Barry University and obtained my social work licensure in Florida. I have worked with children, adolescents and young adults in several areas utilizing a diverse spectrum of training for 25 years. These include loss and bereavement, trauma, crisis, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and adjustment disorders. I started my private practice in 2003 in Miami. Using my background in several orientations and theories, along with experience gained over a long clinical social work career, I conduct comprehensive assessments that best address areas of emotional and behavioral concerns. I stay up to date on all the most effective training and information and aim to create a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment by meeting each individual where they are in their struggles and development. This process helps one discover the inherent strengths that allow change to happen ensuring best therapeutic results.
