I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PhD) in northern California. I received my doctorate degree from the University of Florida. I have 40+ years of experience as a therapist treating adults. I will only see patients in-person in my office. Phone calls and texting/emails are used for communication as necessary between visits. I initially address what prompted an individual to seek help at this particular time, ie why now? I help people clarify issues--concerns, thoughts, feelings, situations--and explore/develop effective coping strategies and behaviors.

Hi! I’m Rishika Syal, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in California. I earned my Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland in 2019. Since then, I’ve worked closely with adults between the ages of 18 and 65, with a particular focus on individuals experiencing co-occurring disorders. My clinical experience includes treating depression, anxiety, and alcohol or substance use disorders. In addition, I have specialized training in complex trauma through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), which deepened my understanding of how past experiences can shape our present challenges. In therapy, I take a collaborative, goal-oriented approach. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. My goal is to create a supportive and practical space where clients feel heard and empowered. I focus on helping you develop tools that are not only useful in session but also applicable to your everyday life. Growing up as a first generation Latina, I always knew that I wanted to give back to my community. Working in the mental health field fulfills that for me. I strive to help people connect and improve the relationships that they have with themselves and others. My approach is eclectic; pulling from different modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused therapy and Mindfulness. I want to say that witnessing progress and being part of the mental health journey is what inspires me to do the work but in all honesty it is an honor to be considered to be part of your healing journey, it is not easy work and I am here to provide you with the tools and compassion to overcome challenges. Being a Therapist allows me to dedicate myself to my passion for supporting the community by providing mental health services that address anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, and relationship issues. When problems arise, we often forget about prioritizing ourselves and instead focus on beating ourselves down. Choosing the right therapist to embark on this journey is key to successful therapy. I provide compassion and remain curious to the thoughts, feelings and experiences so the challenges are not overwhelming and you can see light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. This mental health journey is not easy. I can provide you with unconditional acceptance, guidance so you achieve your goals and live your best life.

Congratulations for taking the step to seek counseling. The world we live in is increasingly complex, and we can find ourselves feeling disconnected, stressed, and uncertain about what direction to take. How do we identify solutions for our life’s challenges? How do we let go of stress and sleep at night? As a therapist, I have counseled with individuals and families for over ten years and have found that problem-solving does not have to be stressful, and that we can work through our toughest issues. It is common to believe that people in our relationships, or circumstances in our lives cause us to feel the way we do. But it is our thinking, and the way we relate to people and circumstances, that create our feelings and emotions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us observe what we are feeling and identify the thoughts that create our feelings. With increased self-awareness, we determine which of our thoughts and perceptions are distorted and unhelpful. As our thinking becomes more realistic, we feel better. There are several therapy methods that are effective in creating positive change, including Narrative Therapy, Goal Setting, Visioning for Personal Growth, and Mindfulness to promote focus and attention. Let’s engage in a conversation to explore your individual needs, and how best to meet them.

Hello and welcome to my practice. Trauma and shame keep you feeling like you should be on the sidelines instead of starring in the game. You might not know exactly how, but you know it’s because of your painful past. So many women never mention sexual abuse or other trauma because they’re ashamed of it… or they believe they should “be over it.” So, they try to “file it away” so it has minimal impact on their lives. But it never works. The pain festers, and keeping your story hidden away prevents you from living fully and authentically – with others AND yourself. Through our work together, the women I work with move from merely coping to thriving- reclaiming their power, speaking their truth with clarity, and taking up space in the world with calm, unapologetic confidence. The result is a life that feels grounded, whole, and one you are deeply connected with. It will be my profound honor to go on this healing journey with you.

Does it feel like you can never fully catch your breath? That life is going too fast and tasks that once were trivial for you now seem overwhelming or exhausting? Keeping up with this rapidly changing world takes an immense amount of emotional fortitude. My hope is to be able to help others navigate life's obstacles with an authentic and nonjudgmental approach. I specialized in Trauma while earning my degree and have helped many individuals, couples, and families work through and overcome the aftermath of traumatic events. I also have several years of experience helping people struggling with anxiety and depression. Hi There, I'm Jarad. It's great to meet you! Here's just a little about me. Prior to becoming a licensed clinical social worker, I worked in education and education policy for almost six years. I helped open schools and pass state and local laws to support children in their educational journey. What was missing for me, however, was what to do for children whose mental health needs were not being met. We could build beautiful schools, have amazing teachers, but if a child experienced trauma, had a death in the family or had parents going through a divorce, I often found myself at a loss as to what to do, and thus my journey into exploring mental health began. Since graduating from the University of Southern California’s School of Social Work in 2013, I have worked with clients from all backgrounds and circumstances. I’ve counseled seniors struggling with adult children to new brand new parents adjusting to parenthood. I’ve helped children and adults process grief and trauma as well as helping to monitor and aid individuals and families in crisis.

Do you feel that life is more difficult than it should be? Are you feeling overburdened by worry or pulled down by hopelessness? These feelings are common and symptoms of anxiety and depression do a good job of making us feel pessimistic about getting past such struggles. If you're willing to be honest and have an idea of how you'd like your life to be different, therapy can help you overcome many personal challenges. It is normal to have many questions (Where do I start? What do I say?) and to feel overwhelmed by the thought of starting therapy. By far the best predictor of success is how comfortable a person feels when talking with their therapist. While there is no way to guarantee a person and a therapist are a good fit, it is best to keep this in mind throughout treatment.

Hey there, I'm Veronika Hoover, LCSW. The foundation of my practice is around getting our mind and our spirit back into our heart and our body and going from there. One of my prior clients told me, "Thank you for walking with me in the dark, and not being afraid of what we will find." Shining a light where darkness once was is a hard thing to do, but when done in a safe place and with support, my hope is that you learn that you are truly worthy of shining brightly and being seen exactly how you are (and falling in love with yourself). My question is: what stops us from doing that?
