Hello there, Are you feeling disconnected? Either from yourself or others? Are you so overwhelmed that you can't seem to regulate your emotions enough to achieve your goals or be present in your relationships? Does grief, trauma, depression, or anxiety seem to be the rulers of your life? If so, I can help. I always joke that when you see what a therapist specializes in, it's because they have lived it. Intense grief, overwhelming emotions, trauma that gets in the way of relationships, anxiety, depression and disconnection are all things that I have dealt with in the past. If you relate to any of these, I can be present with you and provide true understanding for what you are going through because I have also lived it.

Life can feel overwhelming when past experiences continue to show up as anxiety, stress, or emotional exhaustion. You may notice patterns that don’t make sense, feel stuck in survival mode, or carry a heaviness you can’t quite name. Therapy offers a space to slow down, understand what’s beneath the surface, and begin responding to life with more clarity and self-compassion. You don’t have to navigate difficult seasons alone—healing is possible, and support can make the path forward feel more steady and manageable. I also work in afternoons and evenings to ensure everyone gets a chance to be seen.

Hello, my name is Steven Nelson, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over nine years of clinical experience. While my professional background includes family and relationship therapy, my current focus is working with individuals, helping each person navigate their unique journey toward healing, personal growth, and emotional well-being. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with people from diverse backgrounds and professions, including first responders, law enforcement personnel, active-duty military members and their families, nurses, attorneys, and many others facing a wide range of life challenges. Life's difficulties are a natural part of the human experience. At times, individuals may feel isolated in their struggles or believe that no one truly understands what they are going through. These thoughts can contribute to anxiety, depression, substance use, and other challenges that impact relationships, work, and overall quality of life. When left unaddressed, these difficulties can become overwhelming and interfere with one's ability to move forward. I believe that meaningful change is possible through a compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based therapeutic approach. My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can gain insight, build effective coping skills, strengthen resilience, and develop healthier ways of managing life's challenges. Together, we can work toward healing, personal wellness, and lasting positive change. In addition to my Psychological Therapy license, I hold specialties certifications in Drug and Alcohol addiction, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Sex Addiction, Trauma and Domestic Violence prevention.

Being a therapist is a lifelong passion for me and is rooted in my dedication to supporting adults, children, families, and communities in building safety, resilience, and hope. My journey has taken me from my home county of Santa Cruz where I advocated and ran groups for youth living in situations including domestic violence from 2011-2013, to working as a shelter counselor in Oakland for youth 13-21 from 2016-2018. I worked in serving famillies with San Francisco Child and Family Services, where I partnered with families navigating reunification with their children while providing psychoeducation and crisis counseling during critical moments from 2018-2022. I have been licensed with my LCSW since May 2025 and focused my prior professional development around harm reduction and culturally focused treatment, aligning with my commitment to social justice and culturally responsive care.

I have been working with children, families, and adults for over 40 years. My counseling work began following intensive training at the UCLA Child Outpatient Clinic in Los Angeles. After earning a master's degree in social work from USC, I continued clinical work in a variety of settings including pediatric offices, outpatient clinics, and residential treatment. I completed a fellowship in Infant Parent Mental Health and studied under the late Dr. T. Berry Brazelton, MD, Dr. Edward Tronick, PhD, and Dr. Kristie Brandt, in Napa, California before moving on to complete a doctoral degree in educational psychology and board certified in school neuropsychology. With over 40 years of experience, I specialize in working with children and teens experiencing anxiety and low self esteem, helping them develop emotional regulation, resilience, and self-understanding through a compassionate, developmentally attuned approach. I also work with adults, drawing upon deep knowledge of childhood trauma—including family of origin betrayal such as abuse, emotional neglect, and complex trauma resulting from violations of trust—to support healing from long-standing relational and emotional wounds. My trauma-informed practice integrates insights from neuroscience, developmental psychology, and intergenerational family systems, offering clients of all ages a pathway toward growth, stability, and self-compassion. I moved on to complete a specialist degree in school psychology and master's degree in education from Chapman University. I then worked as a school psychologist in public schools for nearly 20 years, during which time I completed a doctoral degree in educational psychology at Alliant International University and became board certified in school neuropsychology through the American Board of School Neuropsychology. I have held teaching posts, providing instruction to students enrolled in the master's degree in Social Work program at California State University, Long Beach. Couples: I am TAKING Couples again. However only on Cash Pay basis. This is how it will work: You can schedule with me an hour consultation, you don't both have to be present, for this Consultation. From there we will meet 5 to 6 times for 1.5 hour sessions. It is very difficult to have Couples sessions within 60 min. The Cash pay is $250.00 for the 1.5 hour sessions. I understand the cost can be a deterrent in seeking help, however if you are both committed to doing the work 5 to 6 sessions should be productive and enough to see changes. Individuals: Of course I am still taking individuals that are or are not in a relationship and need help. We were never taught how to be in a relationship of any kind. Yes there are tons of books of how to, however to put them to practical use can be very difficult. This can also relate to a relationship with a family member, friends or co-workers. Sometimes our own mental health can influence all of our relationships, and you may need coping techniques for anxiety and or depression type symptoms. I will work with you individually to help you gain insight to your own behavior that may be influencing your relationship. I am here to help with coping strategies for anxiety and depression symptoms or learning how to communicate more effectively with others.

Hi there! I'm Nancy, and I am so excited to share a bit about myself with you! Growing up, I experienced some pretty challenging situations within my family, and as a result, I spent much of my childhood in the foster care system and moving from place to place never being able to call a place my home. These experiences gave me a unique perspective on the importance of early intervention and prevention in the mental health field. It was through my experience as a survivor, and my own personal struggles that I discovered my passion for helping others. As a mental health professional, I've had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals, but one experience that stands out to me the most is that of my younger brother. Despite struggling with reading and writing, he was consistently overlooked and eventually turned to drugs, never finishing high school. It's a heartbreaking situation, and I often wonder what could have been different if someone had taken the time to help him earlier. Unfortunately, my brother now suffers from bipolar disorder and experiences panic attacks due to the overwhelming sense of hopelessness and loss he feels. It's because of him that I've dedicated my career to helping others before they reach that point of no return. The point where there is nothing more than resignation and accepting what is than what one could become. Overall, I'm incredibly passionate about what I do and am eager to continue making a positive impact on the lives of children, youth, and families in need. I'm excited about the opportunity to get to know you and be of support to you in your toughest moments in life. Warmly, Nancy Gonzalez-McKenzie
