Welcome, I am so glad that you are here! Do you struggle with self-doubt, low self-esteem, low motivation to complete tasks, or find it difficult to make decisions? Are you struggling to get a good night's sleep or do your thoughts keep you awake? Are you at a crossroads in life and want to understand the path ahead of you? Together we will develop strategies of coping in an emotionally safe and positive space and will begin to understand the why- Why I am overwhelmed. Why do I feel the way that I feel? Why do I continue to repeat the same cycles? I strongly believe in the power of people and understand that change and life transitions can be challenging and very scary. I believe every moment in our day is an opportunity to do things differently. To learn and to grow. I love what I do, and I am honored to be able to step into your life and help. I pride myself on creating safe spaces that encourage change on your terms.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we are going to have a conversation and discuss what brings you to therapy and the goals that you would like to accomplish. We will discuss challenges that you are facing and develop a plan to help support your goals. I am also going to ask about your successes, strengths, and ways that you are coping so I can get to know you better.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I specialize in Anxiety and Depression Disorders, Grief and Loss, Maternal/Perinatal Mental Health, Stress Management, BIPOC Mental Health, Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), Stress, Anger Management, Geriatric Mental Health, and LGBTQIA+ mental health.

My treatment methods

Brainspotting

I have been trained in Brainspotting and find this treatment to be effective with treating and healing traumas . Brainspotting therapy is a type of alternative therapy that uses spots in a person’s visual field to help process trauma. It accesses trauma trapped in the subcortical brain, the area of the brain responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an effective approach to treat anxiety disorders. Cognitive Behavior Therapy helps people identify their distressing thoughts and evaluate how realistic the thoughts are. Then they learn to change unhelpful thinking. The emphasis is also consistently on solving problems and initiating behavioral changes.

EMDR

I am trained in EMDR and find this treatment approach is effective to assist with processing and healing traumas, PTSD, and day to day stressors. EMDR Therapy helps to integrate three types of information – thinking, feeling and sensing (in the body). During an EMDR session the client remembers disturbing material briefly while following with their eyes something the therapist moves in front of them (usually a hand). This helps the nervous system to remain calm even though the memory is painful. This dual focus helps the client to remember but not relive the trauma.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness can be described as the practice of paying attention in the present moment, and doing it intentionally and with non-judgment. Mindfulness meditation practices refer to the deliberate acts of regulating attention through the observation of thoughts, emotions and body states. Mindfulness is helpful with improving anxiety, stress, and improved mental health.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Cultural sensitivity is a set of skills around acknowledging and appreciating cultural differences and similarities. Ignoring cultural nuances can lead to misdiagnoses, ineffective treatment plans, and poor outcomes. I utilize culturally sensitive therapy to support therapeutic trust, alliance, and improving mental health outcomes.
