I’m a licensed clinical social worker, Veteran, and the founder of Beacon Behavioral Therapy, PLLC, where I provide therapy for adults and students navigating life transitions, work-related or academic stress, burnout, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. I also specialize in supporting individuals in high-stress roles such as military, law enforcement, first responders, caregivers, and healthcare and helping professionals. As a Veteran myself, I understand what it is like to work in mission focused environments My approach is collaborative and practical, drawing from CBT, EMDR, and trauma-informed care to help clients better understand what they’re experiencing, build effective coping skills, and make meaningful, sustainable changes in their daily lives. I focus on creating a supportive space where clients can slow down, gain clarity, and work at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in military and government environments, which informs my understanding of high-pressure systems and the challenges faced by professionals in demanding roles I understand what it’s like to work in mission-focused environments where you’re expected to keep going and perform under pressure, even when things are difficult. That perspective informs my work with clients who are used to carrying a lot, pushing through stress, and not always having space to process their own experiences while continuing to show up for others.

I enjoy working with people to help them build a strong sense of self, encourage their confidence in relationships, and help foster a sense of calm and security in their everyday life. I enjoy helping parents navigate the many challenges that come our way. I believe people seek therapy for many reasons: adjustment to a new city or life situation, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, or problems with relationships. Counseling is a process that most of us could benefit from time to time at different stages in life, as it brings an outsider's perspective to events, we are faced with in day-to-day life in a nonjudgmental way.

Hello, my name is Sally. For decades it has been my life mission to help people return to resiliency after setbacks, losses, pain, stress, and suffering. Resiliency means you still acknowledge and own the dark times in your life, but you are freed to return to creating, to feeling compassion instead of being needy and fatigued. Resiliency means your body, brain, hormones, and emotions are back in flow and in healthy relationships with others and the environment and that your mind is free to focus on the things you want and need to focus on. Often people come to therapy feeling stuck and feeling unable to change a situation or the suffering in their lives. Many times for life problems that just emerge, all you need to return to resiliency is more options to consider. Most successful outcomes involve finding the right combination of attacking certain aspects, embracing and loving certain aspects, simply letting go of some aspects, and avoiding some aspects of an issue. I bring a comprehensive set of tools and provide coaching on how you can put the right tools for you and your situation into action. In all cases, it is best to build on our strengths. However, in many cases - especially if your ‘weaknesses’ are connected to intractable and chronic pain or long-term damage, like in addictions, it is best not to ignore or push those problems and feelings down or to the back. I can help you navigate through the inner judges, critics, and defender parts back to a centered, reliable starting place. I help you find and connect a ‘good self to come from’. Sometimes emergent life challenges reveal the deep fault lines of old unresolved traumas. Often struggles with competency, completion, relationships, dependence, or other aspects of being consistently functional and resilient are rooted in unresolved events or relational traumas. I can help you make a journey map to get started in coping with and ultimately resolving those traumas. I can assist you in learning how to connect to and relate to those parts that are impediments to healthy relationships, body flow, and resiliency. The task is to reorganize clusters of feelings and find a starting place for change and balance.

Welcome! The Ebbs and Flows of Life are something we all experience. We flow towards our hopes and dreams, while other times we may flow away. When your life ebbs it is like you are struggling against the current, and fighting your way through the current to grasp what is important to you. Perhaps the times you are flowing away are a result of relationship concerns, addiction, past trauma, anxiety or living with negativity. Like large rocks under the water, you may not be able to see them but they are creating obstacles in achieving your goals while potentially impacting both your health and well-being. I believe that by taking this step in seeking help you are interested in moving forward back to what is important to you. My role is to help you on your journey.

After receiving my master's degree at the University of Southern California in social work, I became clinically licensed in multiple states and worked in an acute hospital setting. I have extensive experience working with couples experiencing communication issues and issues surrounding sex, connection and unhealthy cyclic behavior. Additionally, I see individuals working through all types of life transitions, depression and anxiety. I am a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and focus on sex positive choices and all relationship types including polycules and ethically non monogamous partnerships. First of all, I love what I do and to witness the positive changes clients make in their lives as a result of choosing therapy to help them accomplish what they want. Often the goal is to achieve symptom relief so as to not be overwhelmed by anxiety, mood disorders or be better able to manage the challenges of ADHD. Sometimes there is not a specific outcome identified but a need for ongoing support for dealing with life transitions or difficult people. Sometimes clients use therapy as a confidential sounding board where they can talk to an objective outsider about situations and sort out their perspective. I offer various ways to see and respond to situations that might otherwise not be considered. Your opinion as a client is the most important one and I will also honestly provide mine when asked for. I believe therapy can actually be something that you can look forward to and an opportunity to learn new skills to use long after you discontinue, and we can even have some fun and laughs along the journey.

If you’re looking for someone who will sit back while you unravel your life's chaos alone, I’m not your person. But if you want someone who gently calls you out, celebrates your wins (even the small ones like doing laundry), and hands you actual tools (not just tissues), welcome. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused techniques, which is fancy for I help you identify the unhelpful thoughts doing donuts in your brain, and together we kick them out and get you moving forward. I proudly support the LGBTQIA2+ community, and my practice is affirming, inclusive, and kink/poly-friendly. No judgment here, ever! Whether you're dealing with anxiety that won't shut up, depression that's overstayed its welcome, or you’re just trying to get it together-ish, we can work on making real, sustainable change. You bring the honesty. I’ll bring the dry humor, the empathy, and the occasional metaphor that doesn’t totally land but somehow still helps. Remember YOU>it.
