Hi, I’m Courtney, but most people call me CC. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Maryland with over seven years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s most challenging moments. My background includes crisis counseling, in-home therapy, family therapy, hospitalization, and foster care. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with clients facing depression, anxiety, mood and conduct disorders, personality disorders, co-occurring conditions, family conflicts, and more. In other words—I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse populations and a wide range of concerns. As an eclectic therapist, I believe that no two clients are the same, and therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and goals. I prioritize confidentiality and strive to create a safe, accepting space where you feel heard and understood. I know that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, but my goal is to help you feel comfortable and supported every step of the way. Above all, I believe that truly listening to my clients makes the greatest impact. When people are hurting, they don’t need more advice—they need to be heard. My approach is centered on understanding your needs, validating your experiences, and working alongside you to create meaningful change. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honored to walk this journey with you. Let’s work together toward the life you want.
In our first session together, my primary goal is to create a safe and comfortable space where you feel heard and understood. We’ll start by discussing what brings you to therapy, any concerns or challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to gain from our time together. I’ll ask about your background, including important life experiences, relationships, and any previous experiences with therapy. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share any preferences or concerns about the therapy process, and let me know what feels most supportive for you. We’ll take things at your pace—there’s no pressure to dive into difficult topics right away. Instead, we’ll focus on building a foundation of trust and creating a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. My approach is collaborative, meaning we’ll work together to set goals and determine the best therapeutic strategies for you. Above all, I want you to leave our first session feeling validated, supported, and hopeful about the journey ahead.
As a provider, I believe my greatest strengths lie in my ability to truly listen, create a safe and nonjudgmental space, and tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs. I prioritize making clients feel heard and understood because I know how powerful it is to have someone genuinely listen without judgment or immediate advice. Another strength is my adaptability—I take an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I integrate different therapeutic techniques based on what works best for each person. Whether someone benefits from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, or a more person-centered approach, I adjust my methods to ensure therapy is effective and meaningful. Additionally, my experience working with trauma and crisis has strengthened my ability to help clients navigate difficult emotions and life challenges with patience and empathy. I believe in empowering clients, helping them build resilience, and guiding them toward personal growth at their own pace. Ultimately, my goal is to provide a compassionate, collaborative, and affirming therapeutic experience where clients feel safe to explore their emotions and work toward healing.
The populations that I specialize in are teens, college students, and adults. My specialization is in trauma, crisis, depression, anxiety, and family/relationship issues.
As a therapist, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and change negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. I appreciate how CBT empowers individuals to take an active role in their healing by challenging unhelpful beliefs and developing healthier coping strategies. In my experience, structured techniques like cognitive restructuring and behavioral activation can be transformative, allowing clients to see tangible progress in their mental health. Whether working with someone struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma, I’ve found that CBT provides a practical framework for long-term change, helping clients not only manage symptoms but also build resilience and self-compassion.
