As a therapist I use a holistic approach that integrates emotional, spiritual, psychological, and body-centered practices. I am a Dominican-American who is dedicated to providing serivices to Latina women and women of color in English and Spanish. In my therapy practice, over the last 18 years, I have worked with individuals and families offering culturally responsive and Trauma Informed services. I have devoted my practice to supporting women in healing from abuse and trauma, and helping them learn to cope with life stressors by building upon their strength and resilience. I am trained in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, mindfulness, and CBT.

First session

I care deeply about creating a welcoming space where Latina women and women of color can talk about what they’re going through, recognize their own strengths, and heal from tough transitions. I became a counselor to help people feel more confident, grounded, and hopeful. I’m here to support you as you start your next chapter.

Strengths

I believe that we heal in the presence of compassion and understanding. In sessions I support emotional awareness, self-understanding and promote mind-body connection that supports client's nervous system regulation. This allows the clients to look at themselves with love and compassion to embrace all parts of their being and bring balance into life. Through compassionate, heart-to-heart conversations and evidence-based strategies, you’ll learn to reshape your inner narrative, regulate your nervous system, and move forward with greater confidence and peace.

Ideal clients

My therapeutic work is dedicated to Latina women and women of color wanting to overcome issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and cultural adjustment. You might be single, going through a career change, a breakup, or some other big life shift. These moments make you rethink who you are and how you move forward, all while trying to stay true to where you came from. Maybe you’ve become a professional and “made it” on paper, but it still feels like a struggle to be seen, valued, and understood. Or maybe you’re a parent, trying to keep the traditions you grew up with while raising your kids in a totally different world. That’s a lot to juggle, especially with all the outside expectations. I care deeply about creating a welcoming space where Latina women and women of color can talk about what they’re going through, recognize their own strengths, and heal from tough transitions.

Treatment methods

Somatic

Somatic interventions in therapy provide women with effective tools to address stress and anxiety by focusing on the body’s sensations and responses. Through practices such as mindful breathing, grounding, and mindful movement, women can learn to identify and regulate physical signs of stress and anxiety, fostering calm and self-control. These body-based approaches not only help release accumulated tension but also promote greater self-awareness and emotional balance, empowering women to navigate daily stressors with increased resilience and confidence.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help women to handle emotional challenges like anxiety, depression, and stress. CBT helps women notice patterns in their thoughts and actions that might add to their struggles, and teaches practical tools to challenge negative beliefs and build healthier coping skills. By focusing on how thoughts, feelings, and actions connect, CBT helps women make positive changes, build self-esteem, and improve their well-being.

EMDR

EMDR is a highly effective method for addressing a wide range of trauma issues in women, including experiences such as childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence, sexual assault, medical trauma, culturally based trauma, and the loss of a loved one. By helping clients process and release painful memories that may affect daily functioning and emotional well-being, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to enable women to revisit traumatic experiences in a safe and controlled manner. This approach reduces the intensity of negative emotions and beliefs associated with those memories and supports women in reclaiming a sense of safety, agency, and self-worth, ultimately promoting healing and resilience after trauma. When EMDR is combined with a culturally responsive approach, it helps to establish a supportive environment that empowers clients to heal from their trauma while at the same time respecting their cultural identities and strengths.
