Vickie Ellis
I'm a licensed therapist with 17+ years who specializes in trauma/PTSD, sexual trauma, intimate partner abuse, anxiety, depression, grief & loss, and anger management. I have experience working with active duty military/veterans and first responders. My goal is to create a safe and supportive, nonjudgmental space to allow for increase in insight, growth and developing appropriate coping strategies. I provide trauma informed care including Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Theory (CPT). Together we will identify your challenges and goal, and identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You will leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing.
First session
First sessions are designed to get to know each other, build a rapport and relationship, develop a supportive and safe environment. I will gather background information as well as your current concerns. We will work as a team and identify your strengths and goals.
Strengths
I like to develop a strong rapport with clients and my therapeutic style is eclectic, collaborative, strength based and solution focused. I apply client-centered approaches to assist clients with achieving their goals as well as evidenced-based modalities. I am empowering, warm, and challenging.
Ideal clients
I'm best positioned to support clients who feel stuck in patterns of self-criticism, shame, or emotional overwhelmed - often rooted in past trauma or experiences of marginalization. Many of the people I work with are navigating relationships, and purpose. If you've been carrying heavy emotional burdens, find it hard to be yourself, or feel disconnected for who you are, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore and begin healing from the inside out.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've been using CBT in my practice for over 17 years. It's helped clients challenge recurring thoughts and manage their symptoms of anxiety and depression. We'll use CBT to examine how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors interact. We'll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, helping you lead a more relaxed, less stressful life.
