New to Grow
Welcome! My name is Taryn Grasty, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. In my practice, I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, with a strong emphasis on Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My goal is to provide a supportive and collaborative environment where clients can identify meaningful goals, develop effective strategies, and achieve lasting positive change.
Our first session is all about getting to know one another and beginning to build a strong therapeutic relationship. I believe that trust, comfort, and connection are essential to meaningful progress, so we will spend time discussing your background, current concerns, and what has brought you to counseling. Together, we will explore your goals, identify what you hope to gain from the counseling process, and discuss any expectations you may have. This initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether our therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered as we begin your journey toward growth and healing.
One of the strengths I bring to our sessions is my extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. I want my clients to know that every concern, challenge, or issue they bring to therapy, regardless of how big or small it may seem, is both valid and important. My goal is for each client to leave our sessions feeling that their time was well spent, their needs were addressed, and they gained something meaningful from the experience.
I welcome and enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life and at various stages of their personal journey. While I am committed to meeting clients where they are, the most successful therapeutic relationships often involve a willingness to engage in the process with an open mind, patience, and a desire for growth. Counseling is not typically an overnight fix, but rather a collaborative journey that involves setting meaningful goals, exploring challenges, and creating lasting change over time. I encourage clients to come prepared to do the work both inside and outside of sessions, understanding that progress often happens gradually. By approaching counseling with realistic expectations, commitment, and openness to what the therapeutic process may look like, clients can gain valuable insights and make meaningful strides toward the life they envision for themselves.
I strongly value a person-centered approach to therapy because I believe that each client is the expert on their own life. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. In person-centered therapy, the focus is on you, your experiences, your goals, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. I strive to build a genuine therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and acceptance, allowing you the space to explore challenges, gain insight, and grow at your own pace.
While I believe in meeting clients where they are, I also enjoy incorporating Solution-Focused Therapy techniques. This method emphasizes identifying strengths, building on what is already working, and creating practical steps toward meaningful change. Rather than focusing solely on problems, I help clients recognize their abilities, resources, and successes so they can move toward the goals they want to achieve. I appreciate this approach because it allows clients to feel empowered, hopeful, and capable of making progress, while working together to develop realistic solutions that fit their unique lives and circumstances.
I enjoy incorporating this approach into our work together because it helps identify the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT focuses on recognizing unhelpful thought patterns that may contribute to emotional distress and learning healthier ways to challenge and reframe them. I appreciate CBT because it provides practical tools and strategies that clients can use in their everyday lives to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, build coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting changes that support their overall well-being.
