I am a Christian Clinical, Forensic and Sports Neuropsychologist. Like many folks who get into the mental health field, I had certain mental health challenges. I specialize in the treatment of Trauma and Addiction with family systems and attachment orientation. As a trained child psychologist I also place particular emphasis on developmental aspects of trauma. As a former Navy psychologist with many years working with veterans and first responders, I am very familiar with those cultures.
I played college soccer, run 20 marathons, taught scuba as well as being an award winning underwater photographer and competed at the CrossFit World Games for 3 years. I am married, have a son (retired Navy) and a daughter in heaven.
Hello. Thank you for considering me!
You are, above all things, a human being and to be human is a wild experience. I think most of us are doing the best we can with what we have to work with, and you should be proud of yourself for your willingness to learn more. I see therapy as a process that organically unfolds towards deeper understanding and acceptance of who we are and what life is; from here we can shift how we relate to ourselves and life. My approach is grounded in humanistic, dynamic and holistic therapies. I often focus on the impacts of previous experiences, particularly childhood as early experiences set the foundation we use to navigate our lives.

It can feel like addiction is writing your story, but it doesn't have to! We all have the strength to learn how to work with our brain and not let it have all the control. Using skills from DBT, Attachment Theory, Nervous System Training, and Solution Focused therapy I make it my goal to help people navigate the stressors that come with life whether big or small.

My Background
As someone who personally embraces a journey of mental and emotional health, I am
thrilled that you, too, value your own. Welcome to your greater!
When asked why I have chosen this field, I always respond with, “It chose me”. I was
chosen to enter my own healing process and then pursue higher education at Sam
Houston State University to professionally qualify my purpose. I obtained my Bachelor's
of Science (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees both from the illustrious college. Since
that time I have developed my skill set by working with individuals, couples, and families
in a variety of settings that include outpatient psychiatric programs/hospitals,
Department of Family and Protective Services, and array of private practices.
I'm so glad you found me! I love working with adults concerning anxiety, depression and trauma. Anxiety isn't just fear or nervousness. Anxiety happens when we aren't willing to process difficult emotions. Anxiety can present itself through anger/projection, isolation, busy-ness, and being unusually overwhelmed. As I operate within the Bowen Family Systems theory, a safe space is created that promotes the ability to process these undesired emotions lending the ability to promote emotional resiliency, maturity and balance!
My enthusiasm in working with adults who've suffered from past traumas through EMDR is unmatched. EMDR is a type of therapy where past traumas are processed in a safe/controlled manner. I've found most fulfilment in utilizing EMDR with parental wounds. Once those wounds are processed, clarity to withdraw from current dysfunctional patterns can be achieved.

My passion lies in standing with those who are hurting, mending, and who may feel a bit broken, and helping them discover meaning and hope within the unique tapestry of their circumstances.

Ultimately, her hope is that therapy feels like a safe and supportive space allowing clients to navigate life’s challenges, working toward a sense of peace, and emotional freedom.
Greetings to you and all
With a wish for good health and peace in your life.
My name is Sherby John. I have been working and learning along this journey, we call life, just as you have.
It can be a journey filled with joy and struggle. Have you reached a point where it seems there is more struggle than joy or feel stuck in the muck that seems to only get deeper or harder to transgress?
Then maybe it is time to find new paths and options by having a guide on this journey. Therapy can be a vehicle for change and development of workable tools to assist in continuing with this journey. Whether you are dealing with Depression, Life changes, Anxiety, Relationships, Trauma, or a new medical or mental health diagnosis, therapy can be a useful mechanism for support, discernment, and information.
I would like to provide you with a safe and welcoming environment and space to relieve yourself of these stressors through working on alternatives to current reactions to triggers or stressors in the way of continuing your journey, your way and at your own pace.
Come in.
Lets Talk.
Lets get to work.
