I come from a first responder family, and it shaped how I understand the people I work with. I built my practice specifically for law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatchers/911, and veterans — people who carry things most providers have never had to sit with, let alone treat. I'm not interested in being another therapist who nods along without understanding the job. I get it, and that changes what happens in the room. Not all the work is about the job, either. Plenty of clients come to me for personal issues — relationship struggles, childhood stuff, grief, anxiety, things that have nothing to do with the badge or uniform. Being from this world just means I already understand the context you're operating in, whatever you're bringing to the room. I use evidence-based treatments — including EMDR, Brainspotting, and Prolonged Exposure, among others — to help clients process trauma that others may not fully understand. I also draw on Critical Incident Stress Management and Psychological First Aid for cumulative exposure, not just single-incident trauma. Whether it's an officer-involved shooting, years of runs finally catching up with someone, or something from long before the job started, I know how to work with it directly instead of dancing around it. My style is direct and less formal. I'm not going to make you explain your job to me or treat your coping mechanisms as automatically pathological. I'll call things what they are and won't waste your time with fluff. I work entirely via telehealth — meet with me from home, your vehicle between calls, wherever gives you privacy. If you want a therapist who won't flinch and actually understands the world you operate in, I'd like to work with you.

I see neurodivergent clients, LGBTQIA+ challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, depression with a holistic approach to healing with psychoeducation on brain-body connection and tools to support the nervous system. I draw from science-based therapies to support healing on both emotional and nervous system levels. This may include trauma-focused work, nervous system regulation skills, mindfulness, somatic (body-based) practices, cognitive and behavioral strategies, and practical tools to support everyday life. Together, we will work at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you. Hi, I'm Amy. Thank you for taking the first step to create change and work toward your goals. Do you feel out of balance and overwhelmed? I am passionate about supporting people to find balance and improve overall well-being. I believe well-being is not only about mental health but extends to physical, spiritual, and financial health since all life areas are weaved together. I believe every person has the ability and power to live their best life. To quote Rumi “The wound is the place where the light enters you” has been a guiding quote to find new abilities and opportunities. Self-improvement requires "doing the work" and reaching out for counseling is the first step in "doing the work". I have 20 years of experience working in community mental health, private practice and facilitating groups and 14 years licensed as a clinician. I earned a BS from North Carolina State University and an MA in Agency Counseling from North Carolina Central University. My career has focused on supporting people with substance use disorder and process addictions (gambling disorder), supporting active duty military and their families and working with people who have chronic pain and illness. When not working as a counselor, I take care of my energetic toddler. We enjoy swimming, reading, cooking and crafts.

Trauma has haunted you for years. It’s left you with nightmares and flashbacks. It’s caused you to distrust others and push them away. It’s made you feel broken and hopeless. You’ve tried everything you can think of to shed the weight of the past. You’ve read the books, tried the life hacks… You may have even talked to a therapist. But now, you’re out of options. Nothing has helped you transition from being a survivor to someone who’s truly alive. And you’re all talked out. No matter how many times you tell your story, nothing changes. The search for relief is exhausting. This might be your last shot at getting help.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, mentally unsteady, or unsure how to move forward — you don’t have to carry that alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduate of North Carolina State University. I work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, relationship stress, and questions of direction or purpose. Many of the people I support feel capable and motivated — yet internally worn down, struggling to feel grounded, present, or confident in themselves. My primary focus is helping clients stabilize emotionally and mentally — so you feel more anchored, regulated, and clear. From that place of steadiness, we begin to explore how you can grow into the fullest version of yourself, making the most of your strengths, values, and lived experience rather than trying to become someone you’re not. Therapy with me is not about pushing or fixing — it’s about creating a solid foundation where clarity, confidence, and meaningful change can naturally emerge. For those who find meaning and strength in their Christian faith, I welcome that as part of our work together — though spirituality is never required or assumed. You bring what matters to you, and we build from there.

Hi! I am a dually licensed therapist in both Florida and North Carolina. I began my education later in my adult life, and believed I had arrived late to the game. But I found that life experience paired with my own belief system, allowed me the opportunity to view life's challenges through a unique lens, and because of that I am non-judgmental and empathetic towards people who are struggling with the hurts life has dealt them. I believe in using a collaborative approach in helping my clients. I use evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Therapy, as well as Christian Counseling. I am supportive, yet direct with empathy, compassion and help you address the barriers in your life that are causing you pain and distress.

You don't have to face life’s storms alone; support is here and together we will build the skills necessary to navigate life's complexities. When we meet, you can expect a warm, judgment-free environment where it feels safe to share what’s weighing on you and start gaining more clarity, insight, and self-awareness. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need someone to truly listen, I’m here to help. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in North Carolina, with a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore and 18 years of experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges. I specialize in helping adults experiencing managing career stress, parenting issues, relationship conflicts, and major life transitions. I believe you already have the ability to move forward—my role is to walk alongside you as you uncover your own answers and build confidence and trust in yourself. Together, we’ll focus on learning practical, evidence-based skills drawn from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches. These tools are designed to help you build self compassion and understanding, reduce stress, improve communication, and handle life’s challenges with greater resilience and intention.

Many of my clients are women and teen girls (12 and up) who are high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted, anxious, or disconnected on the inside. You may be managing work, school, relationships, or caregiving while internally feeling overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, or like you’re running on empty. If you’re someone who’s tried to “figure it out” on your own or learned coping skills in therapy before but still find yourself falling into the same patterns, you’re not alone. Many of the women I work with come in feeling frustrated that insight hasn’t translated into real change. In our work together, we focus on getting to the root of what’s keeping you stuck in cycles like burnout, over-functioning, people-pleasing, and difficulty setting boundaries. Instead of just managing symptoms, we work to understand and shift what’s driving them so the change actually lasts. A key part of this process involves working with your nervous system—not just your thoughts. You may already understand what’s going on logically, but still feel it in your body and day-to-day life. We focus on helping your system feel safer, more grounded, and less reactive so you can begin to break those automatic cycles and respond in new ways. I integrate EMDR, somatic approaches, attachment-based therapy, TF-CBT, and experiential work to support both emotional processing and practical change. The goal is to help you move from insight into real, sustainable shifts in how you feel, relate, and show up in your life. Sessions are collaborative and paced so you don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. The goal is to help you feel more grounded, emotionally steady, and connected to yourself and your relationships. I also offer trauma intensives for self-pay clients who want deeper, focused work in a shorter period of time.

I hold a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University as of early 2022. I have been serving children, adolescents, adults, and families for the past year and have some previous experience working in a substance abuse facility. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina as approved by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC). Currently I also hold a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate Level (LCAS-28793) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (Certificate # 1571143). Obtained status of Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern from the state of Florida (License # IMH25227). I am also EMDR Trained working toward certification. Counseling Background: As your counselor, I am here to support you in making meaning, creating comfort, and uncovering resources to help you be your best self. Taking an evidenced-based, client-centered, and existentially-informed approach, I aim to provide a safe and supportive space where we can collaborate and work at your own pace to help you reach your goals. I work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds on issues including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, grief and loss, career transitions, and other mental health and life concerns. Along with the many benefits of counseling come risks. Since counseling often involves discussing unpleasant or uncomfortable aspects of your life, you may experience feelings such as sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, shame, and/or helplessness. Counseling allows you to process your feelings and often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and relief from feelings of distress. There are no guarantees of what you will experience. In order for you to achieve the most benefit from counseling, you will have to be engaged in your therapy sessions, committed, and do work outside of therapy to meet your personal goals.

I provide evidence‑based therapy grounded in clinical assessment, trauma‑informed care, and culturally responsive practice. My approach is structured, collaborative, and focused on helping clients build insight, stability, and long‑term resilience. I am completing an APA‑accredited doctoral internship in a large integrated healthcare system, where I receive supervised training across trauma recovery, inpatient mental health, and neuropsychological assessment. This includes experience with Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), crisis stabilization, diagnostic clarification, and cognitive evaluations for conditions such as TBI, dementia, and complex medical presentations. My clinical work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other evidence‑based approaches. I integrate structured assessment, clear case conceptualization, and practical skills to help clients navigate PTSD, anxiety, depression, identity concerns, and life transitions. I am committed to providing care that is compassionate, culturally aware, and grounded in respect for each client’s lived experience. My goal is to create a safe, steady therapeutic space where clients can explore their concerns, strengthen coping abilities, and move toward meaningful personal growth. A military Veteran himself, Dennis brings lived experience, humility, and a steady, supportive presence to his work.
