Hi! I am a dually licensed therapist in both Florida and North Carolina. I began my education later in my adult life, and believed I had arrived late to the game. I believe in using a collaborative approach in helping my clients. I use evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Motivational Therapy, as well as Christian Counseling. Helping Thoughtful People Get Unstuck and Move Forward
Hi, I'm Donavon.
I’m a counselor with over 20 years of clinical experience and nearly 30 years working in helping professions. Over the years, clients have described me as encouraging, supportive, compassionate, and understanding.
One of the things I do especially well is helping people understand how the challenges they face today developed over time. That doesn’t mean spending weeks reliving the past. Instead, we focus on identifying patterns that contribute to anxiety, stress, ADHD-related struggles, relationship challenges, or feeling stuck, and then developing practical strategies that help you move forward.
My goal is to help people gain insight, develop better coping strategies, and begin making meaningful progress in their lives.
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the direction of your life, therapy can be a place to slow down, gain clarity, and begin moving forward again.

Hello, I am a licensed professional therapist in North Carolina. My experience has centered on working with diverse populations, from military-affiliated, college, and community behavioral health and private practice. Working within these settings has allowed my involvement with various ages, genders, cultures, and life experiences. My theoretical orientation is Constructivism; therefore, I need to understand my client's life perspectives and how that has influenced their worldview. In working with clients, I also practice an integrated approach using constructivism, person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, solution-focused therapies, and others. Person-centered focuses on the client and allows the client to process feelings and thoughts in a non-judgmental environment with unconditional positive regard. Cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on the role of thinking in the process of influencing a person's feelings of well-being and how controlling thoughts can affect mental health. This approach maintains the link between emotions and behaviors in the cognitive process. The humanistic therapeutic method emphasizes the counseling relationship and the importance of quality, genuineness, positive regard, and empathy in the counseling relationship. Solution-focused therapy utilizes skills already present to help navigate current concerns, focusing on being present and checking facts on emotions and feelings that might direct reactive responses to stressors. Constructivism proves the space for cultural humility and openness to worldviews I might not have had the privilege to interact with previously.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and in case you’re unsure of what that is, it means I have earned a Bachelor Degree in Social Work a Master of Social Work and once I completed Graduate school I was then required to complete 3,000 hours of clinical work experience under supervision for another two years after those supervised clinical hours I had to successfully sit for ASWB Clinial Level exam. Being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker not only means that I am passionate about Mental Health, but I am also focused on your environment, meaning I look at external factors that impact your situation. I work with both immediate crises and ongoing issues.
Reaching out for support can be challenging -- my focus is to make it as easy as possible. Women I work with are often seeking help with depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, chronic pain, PTSD, emotional abuse recovery, highly sensitive person needs, grief and loss, and finding deeper life purpose and career concerns.
My past career includes: clinical professor of social work, college campus therapist, mindfulness based stress reduction therapist at Duke Center for Living, integrative health center therapist helping support those with chronic stress, pain, and health issues, and years in private practice. Together, we create an environment for deepening your self-understanding, empowerment, and growth.
My approach is practical, focused on long-lasting change, and is based on the following premises: you are your own healer, all healing comes from your ability to understand and connect to your own deepest wisdom so you can integrate and understand, and the human spirit is resilient —when given proper practical attention and tools, you are able to call in your wholeness and integration.
My focus is to make the process of working together as easy as possible, and I hope you will reach out!
